(des)articulaciones is a biennial conference organized by the Graduate Students of the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh that invites students and professors across disciplines to reflect on Latin American aesthetic production from alternate points of enunciation. This event provides graduate students with a forum in which they can gain valuable experience sharing their work, receiving feedback from colleagues, and expanding their research.

With an interdisciplinary approach, (des)articulaciones 2013 “Ebbs, Flows and Limits: Dialogues and Cultural Productions from the Periphery” invites creative reflections on the possibility of many Others (and various Selves), and the examination of continuous cultural flows from and between so-called peripheries. Our purpose is to continue a reflection of Latin America vis-à-vis various contacts with peripheral Others and their epistemological relationship to the West, in acknowledgement of a radical heterogeneity.

The Bolivian Studies Journal is a peer-reviewed publication that responds to the growing interest in understanding the past and present of historical and cultural processes in Bolivia. Toward this end, it promotes research that is innovative, interdisciplinary, and interested in critically discussing the challenges that Bolivia is making in the new millennium. The journal also supports existing international networks of Bolivianists and welcomes initiatives that re-conceptualize the theoretical and epistemological frameworks that have traditionally oriented the understanding of Bolivian history and culture. We publish once a year and accept research papers, articles, documents, reviews, interviews, and discussion materials written in Spanish, English, or indigenous languages.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The editors of the Bolivian Studies Journal invite the academic community to submit original research papers for volume 20, 2013-2014. The journal welcomes original manuscripts that have not been submitted simultaneously to other publications, whether print or electronic.
