3. Scene where… you finally discover Monday’s motives and the main reason she caused

so much chaos to her sisters. A closed scene, only the second interaction we have seen

the real Monday with her boyfriend, first emotional connection between Friday and

Monday

4. The character… Monday, one sister of seven only goes out into the real world on

Monday, throughout the film she is seen as brave as she has always been the one in her

of trust for the audience as the story builds

Spoilers revealed.

1. J’ai Perdu Mon Corps (I lost my body): Jeremy Clapin

2. When Naoufel meets Gabrielle as a pizza delivery man on a rainy day.

3. The Igloo Scene

After talking and casually dating, Naoufel brings Gabrielle to a rooftop where he reveals a secret

project he had been working on: an igloo. Until this point, Gabrielle is unaware that Naoufel was

the pizza delivery boy—having never seen him in person on that night before. Thus, Naoufel

tells the truth. Unfortunately, Gabriellel feels insulted and cheated, rather than awed and leaves.

In this scene, I notice how the igloo immediately brings intimacy with the tight space and dim

lighting. As well, there’s a moment of suspense created when Naoufel finally decides to reveal

his secret. At this point, there is little music and sound in general.

4. The hand: while the hand is technically a part of Naoufel, it is a different character. The

film follows the story of both Naoufel and his hand. The purpose of the hand is to show

another journey. The hand takes more risks, is more driven, and has an almost desperate

yearning to return to familiarity. Thus, when the hand finally returns to its “home” and is

unable to rejoin, it gives the audience a sense of a journey ending—leaving behind the

old Naoufel.

5. Clapin wanted the film to take place in the 90s to show a more physical and material

world, rather than one riddled with technology.

6. In general, I always watch films in English. Hence, when I saw this film, I realized

just how different foreign films are from westernized ones. The story is completely

unprecedented and almost grotesque if not for its emotionally compelling storyline. I

often dislike mainstreamed films because I, personally, find that overly bloody and

gory props and makeup are used to evoke an emotion of disgust within the audience.

Yet, J’ai Perdu Mon Corps uses suspense and surprise to achieve the same—without

all the blood and effects. As well, there are so many layers to the story. The

disjointed timeline, contrast between past, older past, present, and even future,

leaves me wondering about my own story that is life. Talk about existentialism.

Available on Netflix (watching it in French is better)

The Inciting incident in this movie is when Elena, who works at a power company, goes to Bosley about the corruption and possible danger of the new product they are selling, and they are attacked by the assassin.

This is the inciting incident because it is the event that brings Elena deeper into what the Townsend

organization is trying to do and starts off the whole rest of the chain of events of the movie.

The scene at the very start of the film, where they take out Johnny, is seemingly not that important at the beginning of the story and throughout most of the movie. But near the end, he reappears back into the story

line. It also introduces a couple of characters, including Bosley, Sabina, and Jane, and the organization itself.

It is also the first scene with action, and draws the audience in.

The character Hodak is interesting, because he underlies in a lot of the plot. He incited the inciting incident, as well as was motivation for 'revenge' of sorts from Jane, since he killed Edgar Bosley. We also aren't sure

who hes really working for until the very end.

Elizabeth Banks also acted in the film as one of the leads. It was pretty good and enjoyable!

The Godfather Part II (directed by Francis Ford Coppola)

Inciting incident: Nearly being assassinated at home, Michael decided to leave.

In the ending scene,

1) Mise en Scene – table filled with plates and food but only Michael was sitting there –

juxtaposition conveys mood of loneliness

2) Dark lighting, not much key/fill light – create mood of despair

3) Joyful diegetic, vocal sound in the background while maintaining the long shot at

Michael and the dinner table highlights his isolation

The character, Michael by Al Pacino:

1) As the head of the family, he is the one who supposed to unite them all but failed to do so

2) His cruelty although crushes his opponents, it left him with only loneliness

3) His decisions and actions reveal the fact that he strays away from the original aspiration

of his father, which leads to the breakdown of the family.

Fun Fact:

Pacino was being made “an offer he couldn’t refuse”: he was paid $600,000 for his role in the

sequel in comparison to his $35,000 salary for Part I.

Final Note:

Comparing to the first one, this one seems to be more on the inner psychological side of the

characters and much slower in rhythm as a result of the switching back and forth in time.

HARRIET BY KASI LEMMONS

The inciting Incident in this movie is when Harriet chooses to run away from the plantation.

This is because if she didn't make that decision, than everything else that follows would have

never happened.

The scene that I am choosing is the one where Harriet confronts Gideon. In the scene, the

camera looks down on her at the start. Gideon is even on the horse for some of it, physically

on a higher level. However, at the end of the scene, it switches so that Harriet is on the horse

and the camera is pointing up at her, putting her in a position of power.

The character Marie Buchanon shows us a juxtaposition between African Americans in the

south and North. She was born free, and lives a pretty luxurious life. She helps show Harriet

what freedom could look like, yet Harriet makes the choice after seeing this to go back south

to help free slaves.

Kasi Lemmons is an advisor to the Sundance Film Festival.

It was a really interesting movie! I learned a lot that I didn't know about Harriet

Tubman before watching. I recommend it.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

Director- Hayao Miyazaki

Plot- Kiki is a young witch who must move away for a year to

practice her trailing.

Scene- There’s a scene where her cat, Jiji, is no longer able to talk

due to Kiki losing her powers because she has stopped believing in

herself. Kiki freaks out and realizes that she is losing her power but

doesn‘t know why.

Character- Kiki is a little bit more old fashioned in her mannerisms

as we find out when she moves to a big city. She has her doubts

about her abilities like all young teenagers but with help of a dear

friend realizes her worth and is very committed to get back to her

witch training. I really like Miyazaki films so it’s easy for me to say how awesome this movie is, but it’s not

for everyone, some might think it’s too childish for them.

As if he knew she was going to do that3) Katniss seems surprised when the guards take her away after killing President Coin.

Character- Katniss: 1)Seen as the voice of reason by the rebellions2)Cares for others, whether they are rebels or loyalists3)Hates her sisters cat for some reason

Ratings- IMDB(6.5/10) Roman Tomato(70%) Personal Opinion- I personally used to be obsessed with the Hunger Games books and movies but I have to say that the book Mockingjay is better than both movies. My favorite Hunger Games film is Catching fire, the second among four.

Film Title: The Hunt Director: Craig Zobel

Inciting Incident: 12 people wake up in the middle of the forest and they find out that

they are being hunted.

In one of the first scenes the camera follows around Emma Roberts’ character and

makes you think that she will be the main character of the movie. In this scene there

are a lot of dolly shots that help set the world up and show what is happening. Emma

Roberts’ character is often at the center of the shot so that the audience believes that

she is an important character. The music plays with our emotions and makes you feel

the characters are safe once they find the guns when in reality they are about to get

killed.

The main character is called Crystal. At the start of the film she looks like she would

be a supporting character, but as the film develops and characters die, she takes the

wheel. She has survival skills which allow her to survive and hunt those she is being

hunted by however where she got those skills from is unknown to the viewer. Lastly,

she is very paranoid and doesn’t trust anyone, which in the end causes her to kill the

guy who helped her throughout the movie.

Fun fact: The movie was originally meant to be released in cinemas but because

of the coronavirus it is now “premiering at home”. You can rent the movie for

$20.

6/10 average, good watch but nothing special.
