Is this the course for me?This degree is suitable for those with career aspirations related to global hospitality and the wider travel and tourism industry. It will provide you with an understanding of the origins, development and organisation of the tourism and hospitality industries, and the opportunities and challenges facing organisations operating in and across the various sectors.

Global revenues and occupancy rates for the accommodation sector have increased year-on-year, as have international passenger arrivals and receipts, leading to the creation of many new jobs and small and medium-sized businesses while sustaining growth in this and other sectors such as food and drink, transport, visitor attractions and travel distribution. These changes have given rise to new opportunities but also threats, and the most successful businesses will be those with managers that understand how to compete in what is a dynamic and varied collection of industries.

French, Spanish or Mandarin as well as residentialfieldtrips in the UK and overseas which have includedJersey and Malta.

Research Methods for Tourism & Hospitality Provides training in quantitative and qualitative research methodology that will enable you to prepare and interpret data for business and research projects.

Consumer Experience & BehaviourProvide an understanding of the individual and social processes underlying and influencing human behaviour. You will develop the ability to evaluate and apply theories, concepts and models to the experience industries of food and hospitality.

Industry placement experienceThe work placement is an exciting, yet integral part of the course, handing you the opportunity to relate theory to practice in a real business environment and often the chance to take on a managerial responsibility.

You’ll spend your third year on placement with a tourism or hospitality-related organisation. As well as valuable experience of these industries you’ll develop an understanding and appreciation of how individual organisations operate and their inter-relationship within the

Strategy & Leadership in Hospitality You will develop your ability to review and analyse inter/ national hospitality businesses and organisations and the rationale and logic behind the strategic and tactical decisions that they take.

Marketing for Tourism & Hospitality Develop your knowledge and understanding of marketing as an essential function for tourism and hospitality management, this unit will provide you with an understanding of the concepts, functions and processes of marketing as practiced in the service industries.

Tourism Operations & TechnologyDevelops your awareness of the principles of intermediation and distribution in the tourism and hospitality industries, and explores the digital ecosystem (including travel review sites, bed banks, price comparisons, discounters and other internet intermediaries) as well as trends such as the growth of independent holidays, the emergence of the sharing economy in the accommodation sector and the impact of low-cost carriers on air transport.

Hospitality Resources & Revenue ManagementIn an increasingly technological world, where a lot of business is done electronically, it’s vital to have a basic understanding e-commerce and how this works in the hospitality industry. In this unit, you’ll analyse facilities management theories and apply them to hotel, catering and hospitality management.

You will understand where these influences originate, the impacts they can have and the responses available to organisations of various sizes.

Financial Reporting for Hospitality This unit introduces and develops core business skills in accountancy and business analysis, to prepare you for the demands of financial and management accounting functions in performance analysis and decision making.
