Overview of Presentation
Identify purpose of Secondary Plan Review;
Describe current situation and its implications;
Describe the goals of the Review;
Describe the approach to the Secondary Plan Review;
Present overview of an updated Secondary Plan; and,
Identify next steps.

Purpose of the Secondary Plan Review
Update the 54 Secondary Plans with those Official Plan Amendments in full force and effect, and to ensure conformity with Provincial Plans;
Review and update Secondary Plan schedules to ensure accuracy;
Replace or update policies that refer to previous versions of the Brampton Official Plan; and,
Refine and consolidate Secondary Plans by deleting policies that are not applicable, and clarifying policies and schedules.

Secondary Plan Review - Approach
Step 1 – Identify which Secondary Plan areas are built out.
Step 2 – Separate out residential and non-residential Secondary Plan areas.
Step 3 – Review each Secondary Plan to ensure that they were 100% accurate.
Step 4 – Update all of the mapping to reflect location of parcel boundaries.

Secondary Plan Review - Approach
Step 5 – Incorporate smaller Secondary Plan areas into larger ones and rename them.
Step 6 – Eliminate policies in Secondary Plans that already exist in the Official Plan such as those that deal with transportation, urban design and the environment.
Step 7 – Standardize the language used in all Secondary Plans to ensure that they match each other and match the language used in the Official Plan.
Step 8 – Consolidate site-specific policies where possible

Secondary Plan Review - Approach
The Secondary Plan Review is not intended to:
1. Provide an opportunity for landowners to request changes in the land use
designation of a property or to the uses that are permitted; and,
2. Identify new areas for intensification, change existing density targets, or alter existing development rights.

1. Additional Secondary Plans to be prepared based on approach presented;
2. Separate Official Plan Amendments for each Secondary Plan will also be prepared;
3. Dedicated City webpage on the Secondary Plan review to be established;
4. Public Consultation: Open house and Statutory Public meeting to the held in Fall 2016.
