OUR STORY

THANKS, BYRON!

In 1899, the Haas-Jordan Company was founded as the Hull Brothers Umbrella Manufacturing

Company in Norwalk, Ohio. The brothers moved their fledging company to Toledo in 1903.

By 1910, they had built a new factory to house the growing business and by the 1920’s the

company had climbed to the top 10 in umbrella production by using innovative ideas that

still drive the company today. With the assistance of golf legend, Byron Nelson, Haas-Jordan

designed the first American style golf umbrella. Haas-Jordan has maintained its’ roots in

the Toledo area for over 100 years and continues to strive in the umbrella industry. The

company has managed to stay on top of the competition by using creative ideas such as fully

customizable umbrellas and outstanding quality. Over the years, Haas-Jordan has become

a premier name in the industry while becoming one of the Toledo area’s longest lasting

companies. In 2012, Haas-Jordan moved to a Toledo suburb for an expanded warehouse

and production capacity. In 2014, Todd Blackmar, a retired major in the U.S. Marine Corps,

purchased the company under TMB Enterprises LLC and continues to run the company with

the same innovation, impeccable quality, customer service, and outstanding value that the

Haas-Jordan Company earned in over 115 years of business. In 2015, Haas-Jordan officially

became a Veteran Owned Small Business thanks to Todd’s service in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Golf legend, Byron Nelson coined the nickname “The

Toledo Umbrella Man” during his time as vice president of

marketing at Haas-Jordan. With the assistance of Nelson,

Haas-Jordan was the first to create the golf umbrella,

the first to imprint an umbrella, and the first to use a full

fiberglass construction. The innovative tradition has been

carried on for decades as Haas-Jordan continues to be the

leading innovator in the umbrella industry.
