NARRATOR: Emmy Award, Jake’s secretary, came through Jake’s office door.

(sound effect: wood splintering, glass breaking)

JAKE: Emmy, Darling, how many times have I told you? Open the door before you enter.

When I read this, I was hooked. I take delight in the same come-

dic conventions as Matthew Konkel. Puns, self-reference, and

play-on-words make me giggle with delight. The more I read

Jake Revolver, Freelance Secret Agent, the more I fell in love

with it. But it wasn't until the first rehearsal that the fun really

started.

This is the most talented, collaborative and professional ensemble

of actors I've ever had the privilege of directing. I watched them

bring life to their characters by creating distinct voices, physicali-

zations, and oodles of personal back stories. Together we played,

experimented, and sometimes failed during the process—but the

laughter never stopped for a minute.

I hope you have as much fun watching this as I've had creating it.

Thank you for your support of Jake Revolver, Freelance Secret

Agent!

Meet The Players

It was the year 2007. I was living in California—a poor, struggling writer des-

perate to achieve some semblance of a creative career. Then I wrote Jake Re-

volver, Freelance Secret Agent...and I was still a poor, struggling writer. But

now I was poor, struggling writer with a script! And oh how my universe

changed. The phone wouldn’t stop ringing. People would stop me in the street

just to shake my hand and sing me a song. The mayor gave me the key to the

city. They named streets after me. The Queen invited me over for dinner. I

was beloved by every man, woman and fish! And…um…actually none of that

is true.

Jake Revolver, Freelance Secret Agent was written by a man named Vern

Steinbergervitz. I didn’t know him. I met him on a bus one day and he gave

me the script for Jake Revolver. He was on his way to the Tibetan mountains

to live in solitude with a small sect of monks who dedicate their lives to medi-

tating on corning ware. Jake Revolver was a conflicting entity in his life that

was otherwise committed to poverty and glass-ceramic rumination. So for

Vern’s sake, his legacy and his playwriting career that could have been, I hope

you enjoy the show. And if you can, take some time during the evening’s en-

tertainment to contemplate the awesomeness of corning ware. Vern would

appreciate that.

Heartfelt regards,

Matthew Konkel, 2016

A Los Angeles native, Abby earned her BFA degree in Directing from Cor-

nish College of the Arts in Seattle. She relocated to Wisconsin with her hus-

band and fur babies one year ago. She has been on stage at Sunset Playhouse

and Walker's Point Center for the Arts. She was a long term intern at The Rep

in their Education Department and is currently the Box Office Manager for

Bel Canto Chorus. Most recently, she directed for the Village Playhouse One

Act Festival and next will be working as Dramaturge for the Renaissance

Theaterworks Br!nk New Play Festival.

Thank you to Village Playhouse for this opportunity, to the most talented en-

semble I have ever worked with, to a community of amazing collaborators

who all pitched in to make magic, and especially to Jason, for walking my

pups.

Jeff Davis (Raymond Rattle / Windy) is de-

lighted to be back on stage with the Village Play-house. His favorite role with them was as Jacob in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat several years ago. He has since worked with several other companies in the area in a variety of roles. Fa-vorite productions include The Dining Room (10 dif-ferent roles from age 6 to 80), Fox on the Fairway (Dickie Bell), Gypsy (Herbie), The Diary of Anne Frank (Dr. Dussel), The Music Man (Mayor Shin) and Candy Cane Tales & Holiday Carols (Grinch). Being the token “old man” in this cast has been interesting. Keeping up with the young people has been an experience. Thanks to Abby for this opportu-nity. It has been a lot of laughs!

Lindsay Erin (Angel Fatale / Danderson) is an Ac-

tor and Director of Theatre and Film with a Bachelor's in Drama from UW-Stevens Point. She recently received an Honorable Mention for Best Actress as part of Shepard Express' Best of Milwaukee 2015. Recent directing credits include Death Ship 666! (Giant Spider Productions). Recent acting credits include "Marina" in Tony 'n Tina's Wedding (Turner Hall) and "Audrey" in The Women's Follow Your Dream Club (Cooperative Performance Milwaukee). She is also the Director for

the new sci-fi play The Darfsteller (KACM Theatrical Productions) which will premiere at the Milwaukee Fringe Festival. She would like to thank her friends, boyfriend, and family, for their continual support and love!

Donald Kozinski (Narrator / Radio Announcer) is a current theatre student at UW-Milwaukee. Donald is a geek at heart, who loves to entertain others with what he calls his "diverse bag of tricks." Previous cred-its have included Loves Labours Lost, Hot L Baltimore, She Kills Monsters, and Damn Yankees!, all previously done at UWM. Donald is celebrating his birthday on the same day Jake Revolver opens, and for his present, he hopes you all enjoy the show.

Logan Milway (Dashiell Roll / Wallace) is a senior

attending Carthage College with a double major in Thea-ter (Directing) and Communications. He was last seen performing at Carthage in Urinetown The Musical and has had the honor of performing in four world premieres, including No Name at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Logan will also be making his directorial debut at Car-thage in A History of Falling Things and is currently work-ing as a teaching apprentice with First Stage Children's

Donations/Angels Program

For over 30 years, the Village Playhouse has provided numerous

opportunities and benefits to the community. We make high quality

theatre available without the prices associated with Milwaukee’s

city center. Additionally, the VPW provides opportunities for peo-

ple of all experience levels to develop skills in various theatre crafts.

We also provide an outlet for artists of all disciplines to practice,

display and perfect their craft.

However, over the years, the costs of productions have increased

substantially. That is why we need to ask for your help. Your con-

tribution will allow us to continue to provide the high-quality pro-

ductions you have come to enjoy.
