Fo r e s t Pr o d u c t sThe ultra-modern terminals in the Port of Zeebrugge are highly automated, with an emphasis on
productivity, efficiency and innovation with the aim to stay ahead of the competition. Their logistics
services are characterised by superior quality that can only be achieved through highly-specialised
teams. These terminals are operated by PSA, ICO and Seaport Shipping & Trading, amongst others.
Close to three million tonnes of forest products pass through the Port of Zeebrugge. Paper products
are distributed all over Europe by train and lorry and are shipped overseas by container or specia-
lised RORO vessels.
Fo o d & Pe r i s h a b l e sThe Port of Zeebrugge is an important distribution port for food products such as fresh fruit, fruit
juices, vegetables, potatoes, coffee, meat, fish and dairy products. In recent years, the Port of Zeebrug-
ge has developed into a genuine European ‘food hub’. As a clean coastal port, the Port of Zeebrugge
is pollution free, ideal for precious cargo such as food products. Fresh fruit is handled by a dedicated
fruit terminal, the Belgian New Fruit Wharf. The presence of multiple deepfreeze warehouses offer
opportunities for valued-added logistics activities.
The new Border Inspection Post is a real asset when attracting new, precious food traffic. The trans-
portation of food products with reefer containers is a growing trend.
Pr o j e c t & he av y li F tThe loading and unloading of oversized or heavy cargo is available on many of the Port of Zeebrugge’s
breakbulk, RORO and container terminals. All of them possess the necessary equipment to handle
and transport large items such as generators, offshore wind industry components, boilers, turbines,
reactors, towers, heaters, railway wagons, boats or military equipment.
The guaranteed frequency of departures at both the short-sea and deep-sea RORO terminals
enables the reliable shipment of project and heavy lift cargo using low, flatbed trailers that are
towed on board by powerful tug masters. Lashing and securing is performed by a highly-skilled
and experienced labour force. Moreover, the use of estuary barges allows cargo to reach inland
waterway destinations as far away as Duisburg.
Port of Zeebrugge has multiple terminals and storage facilities for handling steel and metal
products. These dedicated terminals ensure that the full spectrum of logistics services is of the highest
quality. They offer many options for storage and warehousing and a broad range of options for cost-
efficient transport to major industrial companies and sites in Europe and around the world. The Port of
Zeebrugge employs specialised equipment and an experienced labour pool to realise this.

Port of Zeebrugge ranks at the top of the world’s leading ports for the export and import of new vehi-
cles. No less than 2.2 million vehicles were handled in 2020. These new cars are shipped within Europe
and worldwide. All major car manufacturers have put their confidence in the port of Zeebrugge, not
only for the transport of finished products, but also for the transport of spare parts and components
that are transported between the different assembly plants in Europe. The port also offers several cen-
tres for vehicle modifications and other forms of value-added logistics.
The shipping companies mainly load and unload their car carriers in the Zeebrugge inner port. These
specialised RORO vessels also carry large volumes of high & heavy cargoes such as agricultural ma-
chines, excavators and machine components. Zeebrugge puts over 400 hectares at the disposal of the
automotive sector, which includes companies like ICO, C.Ro, WWL, Toyota and P&O.
With its accessibility for large vessels and its high effi ciency, the Port of Zeebrugge offers companies
the opportunity to concentrate their import and export activities, either short-sea or deep-sea, in
one location.
From this location they have direct access to the main production areas in Europe and around the
world. This prompts many shipping companies and stevedores to choose the facilities in the Port of
Zeebrugge.
