Birth and Earth Days Share how to create birthday book cake prop. Demonstrate classroom/library birthday book program.

1. Sing The Birthday Book Rhyme (verse 1). 2. Show cupcake bookplate. 3. Read aloud birthday themed book. 4. Make curriculum connections w/teachable moment. 5. Sing The Birthday Book Rhyme (verse 2).

Sing The Recycling Song. Discuss how the earth has a birthday everyday. Read aloud, Earth Day Birthday. List ways to recycle and reuse to celebrate the earth’s birthday.

(This is also a fundraising activity for the library.)

Fact or Fiction: Frog or Toad?

Make construction paper frog and toad puppets. Sing Books Are Great!

Read aloud/picture read, fiction/nonfiction frog and toad books. Compare/contrast fiction and nonfiction books with book sorting activity. Recommend websites for enrichment.

Motion in the Ocean: Animals Alive!

Sing Ocean Song. Read aloud/picture read, fiction/nonfiction books.

Participate as puppeteers in storytelling an ocean folktale. Check for understanding - necessity of ocean habitat. Recommend websites for enrichment.

Demonstrate how to make pet puppets from envelopes and fun foam. Sing Kittens and Puppies.

Read aloud/picture read, fiction and nonfiction examples of pet shape books.
