Style of management; Definition:

The way in which various people in an orga-

nisation work, by interacting, instructing,directing &co-operating with each other.

The way in which several people come along as

the workforce of a company & the culture they

follow at their workspace, with leadership &com-

munity, the extent of their commitment to their

-organization, depends on their style of managem-ent.

Even from the point of view of the results & the

outcomes, that is obtained by the efforts put in by

the employees, the way of working, as well as the

co-operation &co-ordination shown by the workers

determines the success of the firm.

Features of the British

management style:-

The approach towards management is

very generalised;i.e.,the practical or

applied knowledge is given the

preference.

The manager needs not to be

technically competent person, his or her

considered of much greaterimportance.

The quality of a manager ofworking as a team with his

colleagues or subordinates is

prized.

Modern approach is to maintain afriendly atmosphere at the workplace

The four major managerial styles exhibited by

British managers are;

1. Democratic

2. Autocratic

3. Paternalistic

4. Consulting

Apart from these four, a minimal involvement

managerial style also exists, but it is not

quite widely used as it does not pays any

attention to the problems &grievances ofits employees or workforce.

The most widely accepted & used forms

of management styles are autocratic

&democratic.

Paternalistic is rapidly gaining grounds

in present working environment.

These modern approaches consist of

Every management style has its own merits &demerits.

The most suitable is to be chosen after taking

into consideration the short &long term

objectives of a firm.

of the company.

All important decisions made at this level.

Usually two directors, both appointed by &

accountable to the preferential shareholders.

management:-British people like decisions to be taken as ateam.

Team environment is expected to be friendly

inspiring &companionable.Individuals are expected to be supportive

&helpful of each other

specialization in their teams regarding one or

the other attributes. But overall approach is

very generalized.

They like being seen as good or efficient all

rounders.

British CommunicationStyles:British quite resemble Asians in their

diplomatic style of communication.

They strongly place diplomacy before

directness of speech.

They also prefer saying unpalatable

things in a coded &more acceptable

They may use positive phrases even to

workforce, almost 50%,But are often

found on low paid jobs.

Women prefer the same with little
