and institutions. The nearby hill stations are well
known for their natural beauty, temples for its
faith dimensions, sanctuary for animal and bird
lovers. Hill stations include Mussorie,
Sahastradhara, Chakrata, and Dakpathar.

Dehradun is the most happening hilly place in
India.Once it was the part of Uttarpradesh.After
forming a new state of Uttaranchal(Now is known
as Uttarakhand) Dehredun has been declared it's
capital.It is also known as Doon Valley. as it is
situated between the front ranges of the Himalayas
and the Shivalik Hills. Dehradun also has some
historical importance. During the British rule they
built various buildings here.
Dehra dun is also famous for it's green
look.

Places Which Can Be Visited In Dehradun
People of dehradun lives with
peace and prosperity. This city is
clean. Crime rating is not too much
in this city.
Nanital- It is well known as the Lake
district of uttarakhand. It is situated at
an altitude of at an altitude of 1635 Mts
above the sea level…….
• Nainital is a glittering jewel in the Himalyan
necklace, blessed with scenic natural spledour and
varied natural resources . Dotted with lakes ,
Nainital has earned the epithet of ' Lake District '
of India . The most prominent of the lakes is Naini
lake ringed by hills . Nainital has a varied
topography . Some of the important places in the
district are Nainital , Haldwani , Kaladhungi ,
Ramnagar , Bhowali , Ramgarh , Mukteshwar ,
Bhimtal , Sattal and Naukuchiatal . Nainital’s

there. After passing chakrata there are
many villages which are on the way to
the major tourist attraction Tiger Falls.
This waterfall is situated in village
naming Mindal. People from far away
come here to visit this place…..
Tourism is the most significant segment of
Mussoorie's economy. It has a nature walk known as
"Camel's Back Road". Kempty Falls is a nice picnic
spot. Company Garden is popular tourist destination.
During season, the Company Garden has a vast
collection of flowers and plants. Picturesque
Dhanaulti hill station is about 32 kilometres from
Mussoorie. Mussoorie also had India's largest roller
skating rink
• Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board
in the Dehradun District of the northern Indian
state of Uttarakhand. It is located about 35 km from
the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km north
from the national capital of New Delhi. This hill
station, situated in the foothills of the Garhwal
Himalayan ranges, is also known as the Queen of
the Hills. The adjoining town of Landour, which
includes a military cantonment, is considered part
of 'greater Mussoorie', as are the townships of
Barlowganj and Jharipani

Places Which Can Be Visited In Dehradun
Chakrata is a cantonment town in Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand, India.It is situated between the Tons and Yamuna rivers, at an elevation of 7000–7250 feet, 98 km from state capital, Dehradun, it was originally a cantonment of British Indian Army. Due west lies Himachal Pradesh, and due east are Mussoorie (73 km), and it is majorly situated at jaunsar.
According to the local people, this temple and the
adjoining area are believed to be where Duryodhana
of Mahabharata episode conspired to burn alive the
Pandava in the Lakshyagriha house, constructed with
shellac. Twin statues of Danav and Manav are located
beside the main shrine. The statues are its dwarpals
(doormen). Some people believe these statues to be
those of Pandava brothers Bhima and Arjuna. They
also resemble Jai and Vijay, the doormen of Lord
Vishnu.
• Past Kempty falls, 75 kms on the Mussoorie-
Yamnotriroad lies Lakhamandal, having a
historical as well as mythological significance. It
figures prominently in the annals of Mahabharata.
Legend has it that the Kaurvas made a shelter
house and conspired to burn the Pandavas alive
here. Lakhmandal is situated on the bank of
Yamuna at a distance of 35 kms. From Chakrata
and 128 kms. from Dehra Dun. To the antiquarian
it provides considerable material of interest. It
contains temples dedicated to Diva, The five
pandava brothers, Parasuram and Kedar. In order
to burn the Pandavas, the Kauravas had built their
'Laksha Grah' (house of lac).
LakhamandalLansdowne
Originally known as Kaludanda, after Kalun (Black)
and Danda (Hill) in local language, Lansdowne was
founded and named after then Viceroy of India, Lord
Lansdowne in 1887, and by 1901 it had a population
of 3943.Lansdowne was developed by the British for
catering for the Recruits Training center of the
Garhwal Rifles. Lansdowne was a major place of the
activities of freedom fighters from British Garhwal
during British period. Nowadays, the famous Garhwal
Rifles of the Indian Army has its command office
here. Lansdowne is one of the quietest hill stations of
India and is popular since Britishers came to India.
Lansdowne is unlike other hill stations as it is well
connected with motorable roads but remote in its own
way.
There is a training facility of Indo Tibetan
Border Police. This force is responsible for
guarding Indian borders at high altitude. They
are subjected to hard training and its amazing
to see their stamina and skiing skills. This
center is equipped with best medical team for
any emergency and tourist can use their help.
If tourist gets trapped then the chopper
service can be requested for rescue or transfer
to city medical facilities.
• Auli is an important ski destination in the
Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand, India. Auli,
also known as a 'bugyal or Auli Bugyal, in the
regional language, which means meadow, is located
at an elevation of 2500 to 3050 meters above sea
level. Auli is less known ski destination than Shimla
Gulmarg or Manali. It was only in the recent time,
after the creation of new state Uttarakhand
(formerly Uttaranchal) carved out from Uttar
Pradesh, Auli was marketed as a tourist destination.
The state is called "Dev Bhoomi" which means
"Land of Gods" as there are important pilgrimage
destination in this state mainly the 'Char Dham'
(Gangotri-Yamunotri-Kedarnath-Badrinath).
Auli The War Memorial, at the Parade Ground of the Garhwal Rifles Center is an attraction for the visitors. Places of interest around the city are Tip n Top Viewing (offers excellent views of surrounding shivaliks) Santoshi Mata Temple, Regimental Museum (also called the Darwan Singh Sanghralaya), Bhulla Taal, St. Mary's Church, Lover's lane. The excursions from the city are Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple, Bhairav Garhi temple,Bhim pakora(a stone which vibrates if touched).The Annual ‘Sharadotsav’ (Festival of Autumn) is also organized at this hill station during autumn season
