Whitening and Protection
NanoWhite is a liposomal preparation combining
powerul whitening ingredients with antioxidants ora strong brightening eect.
With age, stress and pollution, the skin pigmentationprocess can be disturbed leading to age spots and an
uneven complexion. Thanks to its special composition,
NanoWhite regulates this process through complemen-tary pathways:

Skin Color, Hyper-Pigmentation and Aging
Skincolorlargelydependsonapigmentcalledmelanin.
Itsproductionintheskinisactivatedbysunlightandrequires the presence o a key enzyme called tyrosinase.
Two major orms o melanin exist in humans: eumelanin(brown to black pigment) and pheomelanin (yellow to
red pigment). Each individual has both types o melanin
but in dierent proportions.
Thus, skin color depends on the nature, concentrationand distribution o melanin.
Butfactorssuchasfreeradicals,hormonalchangesand
sun exposure can disturb the pigmentation process.Besides,skinsluminosityanduniformitytendtodecrease
with age. That is the reason why an even-toned skin is
perceived as a sign o youth.
A Combination o Whitening Ingredients

contain arbutin which strongly inhibits tyrosinase activity.Arbutinisanaturalderivativeofhydroquinonewhichis
much more stable and saer than hydroquinone itsel

Study results
Eect on Melanin Synthesis
Inastudyconductedonmelanocytes,NanoWhite
wasshowntoinhibitmelaninformation.Speciccells(B-16Melanocytes)werecultivatedwithNDP-MSH,
a stable derivative o the natural hormone -MSHwhich
stimulates skin pigmentation. The melanin content wasdetermined by measurements o the optical density and
thecellviabilitywasevaluatedinparallelbytheMTT
assay.Besides,morphologicalobservationswereper-ormed by microscope.
Resultsshowedthat0.4%NanoWhiteinhibitsmelanin
formationby74%.Besides,thisinhibitionofthepigmentation process is dose-dependent and is not
duetoacytotoxiceffectasshownintheMTTassay.

Double Eect on Human Tyrosinase Activity
The NanoWhite mechanism on tyrosinase
activitywasstudiedintwoin-vitrotests.AssayswereperformedbyusingNormalHumanEpidermal
Melanocytes(NHEM)withdifferentconcentrationsof
NanoWhite against controls. The tyrosinase activity wasdetermined by measuring the melanin content (optical
density).
Intherststudy,tyrosinasewasextractedfromNHEM
andincubatedwithNanoWhite.L-DOPA(enzyme
substrate) was then added to start the tyrosinase reaction.Results showed a dose-dependent inhibition o melanin
ormation. NanoWhite can thus directly inhibit tyrosinase
activity.
The second study was perormed on pre-treated
NHEM.Thispre-treatmentconsistedofincubatingNHEMwithNanoWhiteforaspecictime.Theaimwas
to evaluate the eect o NanoWhite on the ormation
and/oractivationoftyrosinase.Afterthisincubationtime, cells were rinsed and lysed in order to release the
tyrosinasewhichmightbeproduced.ThenL-DOPA
(enzyme substrate) was added. Results showed againa dose-dependent inhibiting eect meaning that
NanoWhitecanalsoinhibittheformationand/or
activation o tyrosinase.
Asaconclusion,these2studiesshowthatNanoWhite
can inhibit both the tyrosinase activity and the activationo this enzyme. Thus, NanoWhite can regulate the
tyrosinase activity and prevent pigmentation disorders.
