CWTU Board of Directors Minutes 3-13-2018Meeting Location: Finn ‘N’ Feather, Winneconne, WI.

President Laura Tucker called the meeting to order at 6:17pm

Minutes of 1/9/2017 Board Meeting: Approved.

Treasurer’s Report: The report was distributed by Joe Peikert and approved.

New Business:Trout Fest 2018 Report: Bob Smaglick reported that it was one of the best attended and estimated over 230. The event netted $1,372.54. Bob noted that it came off very well, due to all the great volunteers and thanks them all very much! Bob is retiring from being the director of Trout Fest the past 10 years, big thanks to Bob!

River Keepers: Bob Jozwowski noted that the WBCM grant will not be offered for 2019. They are planning to do a double buy for chemicals so 2018 & 2019 are covered. Hopefully River Keepers will be funded in 2020. Kits will be distributed before April 10 meeting. Monitoring will start back up in May. Bob will be making a presention to the Green Lake Association on March 31, as there are more locations in that area that need teams. There might be stream training in April or May. There will also be training available at Stevens Point on April 18. Last note is that Lawrence Creek monitoring has been revietalized.

Beginner Fly Tying Class Summary: Grace Pable gave the summary report on Dave Pable’s behalf. The class was a big hit again, there were 15 students ranging in age from 11 to to 70+. Grace shared a few nice comments from students and gave a big thanks to all who assisted and helped teach for this year’s classes. Total intake was $375 and total material costs were $271.80, so it was suggested to put the remaining extra money toward tools and materials for next year. It was approved. We already have new brochures for the 2019 class. Anyone who has an interested new tyer or would like to volunteer to help please get in touch with Dave Pable.

Filling Postions: Discussed various positions to fill. Trout Fest is open, but Wayne Parmley noted he would co-chair Trout Fest if 1 or 2 people would sign on. CWTU Fly Fishing School now has a chairman, Jeff Treu.

CWTU Fly Fishing School: Now that Jeff Treu is chariman, he needs a team of volunteers. School is the first weekend of June, 2018. Jeff is working to pull a committee/team together, he has a few volunteers signed on, but could use more. Laura Tucker will be heading up the food, and she is looking for help in that area as well. Wayne Parmley has signed on with some of the promotion needs and press releases have been sent to several outlets across the state as well as an ad in the next Wis Trout. Contact Scott Grady concerning anyone interested in taking the class.

Support DNR Work Day Crew: Recommendation to add $1,300 in addition to the $5,000 CWTU donated already. This would provide additional support to Shawn Sullivan for 2 weeks of salary for 1 staff. Motion to provide $1,300 more to DNR workday crew for 2018. – Approved.

Old Business:Casting Clinic in May: All agreed to pass on the casting clinic in Winneconne this year. We are looking at something different or new ideas.

Summer Picnics for June, July & August: Laura & John Tucker will host July. June and August are still open. The Summer Picnic Committee is John Tucker (920-475-2271) and Mike San Dretto (920-716-1016), so direct offers, suggestions and/or questions to them.

Meeting adjourned at 6:59pm - Recorded by Wayne Parmley
