NEW GALLERY DIRECTOR

Hello Fellow Artists: Summer is upon us. I hope you all are having fun with your summer activities, and that they will inspire you to create new artwork for the rest of this year. We will all miss Ed Klein, but his teaching will still be with us, as we continue to create artwork for the Gallery. PAINT PARTIES- JUL 9 & 23

FIRELIGHT BARN

Ed Klein has been a huge contributor to the success of City Lights Artists' Co-op as well as the local art scene. He hosted several members and students at Sierra Gold for pizza to celebrate the next phase of his life as he trades sunny Nevada for sunny Daytona, Florida! Another very well attended send-off was held at the Gallery on June 24th to say thank you to Ed who has giv-en so much to City Lights and the community. Ed was given a gift card to re-stock his painting supplies and re-launch his art activities in his new location. He expressed his sincere thanks to all! We wish him well as he be-gins his next journey nearer his family and plans to partici-pate in the local art communi-ty. He arrived safely to his new home! Ed will be missed!

FAREWELL TO ED KLEIN City Lights Art Gallery is now hosting paint parties for up to 10 participants! It’s a 3 hour class, 6—9 p.m. at 3 Army St. in Hen-derson for just $35. We provide the blank 16x20 canvas, the paints, brushes,

and free libations and snacks. Your painting will look fabulous and you’ll have fun and a lot of laughter with art teacher, Jan Schaeffer! Reserve your space today for Sat. July 9th & 23rd, (the 2nd and 4th Satur-days) at the Gallery: (702) 260-0300 or Jan Schaeffer: (702) 361-3501.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS The Monthly Membership Meetings will be postponed until Fall. However, our June 16th meeting was fabulous! Stephanie Rose, our resident stained glass and mosaic artist presented her works and told us about the differ-ent quality glass she uses, the various kinds of leading, and how she uses her kilns to get creative effects in her artwork and jewelry. Stephanie’s style of glass work is quite unique. She brought her albums to show us how her art has evolved and some major works that she has sold. If you are interested in discovering this art form, watch for announcements of a 2-day Workshop in Glass that Stephanie is planning. She is one very talented lady!

Please join Susan LaBuda and the Scholarship Winners for a presentation and reception on Wednesday, July 13th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. You will be amazed at their artistic talent. Come meet our winners and talk with them about their goals and future in the art field. Scholarships for art students are one of our Gallery’s major goals. This year we will be awarding funds to 4 stu-dents, Katy Poole, Catherine Swift, Hannah Moran, and Courtney Albertie, and supporting up to 10 mini-grants in the schools. Your participation in our fund raisers makes our Scholarship program possible. Please come on July 13th to support our Winners!

MAINTAINING OUR GALLERY

A special thank you to Merle who was able to contract with her housekeeper to clean our gallery. Ed Klein’s daughter, Sandy, spent many hours cleaning and was greatly appreciated, but has moved to Florida. Ed and Sandy will certainly be missed!

The group of members who went to the theatre on June 4th and 11th enjoyed the play, Weekend Comedy, about two couples, one middle aged, and one young couple who booked the same cottage for a 3-day weekend. They both decided to stay with hilarious results! Watch the announcements for the next show at the Theatre in the Valley at 10 W. Pacific Ave, Henderson. Let’s support our Water St. neighbors! You are invited to hang your art at the Theatre and add to the creative ambiance. Contact the gallery if you are interested.
