IGCSEs are normally studied by studentsaged 14 16 years o age over a period o two years. They are assessed by examination and a student willnormally study several IGCSEs at a time. IGCSEs are theinternational variant o the UK GCSE and are oeredby Edexcel in a wide range o subjects, including Maths,English, Physics, Biology and Accounting. They are alsothe prelude to GCE A levels and BTEC Nationals.

Edexcel GCE Advanced levelGCE A level stands or General Certicate oEducation Advanced level.

The majority o GCEs have a our-unit structure. Studentsusually take two units in the rst hal o the A level (AS)ollowed by two in the second hal (A2). AS (AdvancedSubsidiary) is the rst hal o an A level, and is also aqualication in its own right. A2 is the second hal o anA level qualication, and is a progression rom AS. Theseare assessed via a combination o examinations andcoursework depending on the subject.
