We are happy to announce the arrival of a new staff person to SICBA. She is Novelli (Elli) Haddick and will be taking the reins as SICBA’s Membership Coordinator. She comes to us from the Burlington Chamber of Commerce where she served in the Visitors Center and worked for the last few months as the Membership Director. If you don’t know Elli, make it a point to either stop at the office and say hello and welcome or plan to attend our September event that is in planning right now. Now I’m sure you might be wondering about Rayna: Rayna is moving to part time Bookkeeper for SICBA. She is NOT leaving.

COMMITTEE REPORTS Events Committee Chair is Kim Piazza The June Member Mixer at Peoples Bank Oak Harbor was a great success! The June event is also when we distribute the ROII® Select Program Refund Checks and many members came to claim their money! Peoples Bank had member favorite, Sho Nuff BBQ serving dinner and they also served Ice Cream Sodas for National Ice Cream Soda Day! Our next Member Mixer will take place during our SICBA Golf Tournament on July 14th. If you don’t golf, you can still come up to Avalon Golf Course and join us for lunch at 2pm. Please RSVP at www.SICBAEvents.com by July10
th. Kids are also welcome to attend!
Membership Committee Chair is Dee Dee Swartz We are Racing to 500! Currently our membership totals with NAHB are 477 with a 87.3% retention rate, so to hit 500 we need not only 23 more members, but also must replace the 12.7% of members who are not renewing for any reason, like retirement, moving, closing their business, etc. So, let’s have some fun while we Race to 500! We are working on scheduling a SICBA night at Skagit Speedway in August for all members, family and employees. Stay tuned for more details. We also have SICBA’s next Rewards trip on September 29 - our 2
nd annual Peer to Pier Cruise. You can earn this trip by
recruiting a new member or as a sponsor. Thank you to our current sponsors: AAA KARTAK Glass & Closet Inc; Back in the Woods Works; Capital Benefits; Cedar Country Lumber LLC; BIAW; and McGregor Insurance Agency Inc. And there is still time to add your company name to this list! With the warm weather, we are all out and about working and playing. As you run into other contractors, specialty contractors, suppliers, service providers and manufacturers, ask them “Are you a member of SICBA?” If they say “no” ASK THEM TO JOIN! Direct them to our new website and the bright green “Join Now” button. You can also give their name and contact information to Rayna and she’ll help you close the sale. The membership committee is here to make you a better, more successful recruiter, just ask. Help us Race to 500 Members!

And, as always, we had a short business meeting to take care of housekeeping items as well as try to give away some money from the Membership Bonus Drawing. We started the drawings with the Renewal Drawing and Davis Quality Painting was the lucky winner. They will get lunch at the Golf Tournament on July 14. The winner of the Membership Bonus Drawing (DeRemer Carpentry) was not present to take home the $500. So the pot will be $550 at our next event. Our next event will be our Annual Golf Tournament. It is filled with players but there are a few more sponsorship opportunities available. And, if you don’t golf but would like to come out and mix with the golfers for lunch, that is also available. Call Lianna for more information. (360) 488-4079. The Events Committee chose not to have a picnic in August and let everyone enjoy their summer vacations. Look forward to seeing you at the Golf Tournament on July 14
th!
Our June Member Mixer was a lot of fun! THANK YOU PEOPLES BANK in Oak Harbor for hosting us again this time. Sho Nuff Barbecue was the catering company again this year and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. And, June 20
th
was National Ice Cream Soda day so Peoples went out of their way to have Ice Cream Sodas available for everyone. We also handed out over $900,000 to our members who are in the ROII Select® Program. They all earned this money by having a safe working environment and controlling their L&I claims along the way. We all understand accidents will happen – but how the claim is handled is the key to keeping the amount low and earning the return for the premiums that were over paid for a period of time. If you want more information, give Rayna a call at the SICBA office and she will be happy to explain everything to you.
