more Events This Week
Dear Members of the Worshipping Community,
As we remember our own deceased loved ones and special saints during the Feasts of All Saints andAll Souls this week, I kindly ask that you also keep in mind and prayer the people whom the Shrinehas buried as part of our Lazarus Ministry.
To date, we have provided funeral and burial services to over 80 people; providing death with dignityand honor to those who die homeless and alone.
From the youngest members of our society, babies who have died at birth and were abandoned, orsimply did not survive to be born in the first place; to the elderly who have outlived all of their familymembers and are utterly alone; to the street homeless, addicts and mentally ill; to military Veteranswho had no one else around to say “thank you for your service”, our Lazarus Ministry works to ensurethat there IS someone standing beside each grave, praying for the deceased and honoring their lives.
We are fortunate to be able to provide this service to such a wide range of people, because of yourgenerosity. There are many ways in which you can help us continue our work: donate a burial plot;donate a headstone or marker; make a monetary donation to the Lazarus Ministry; remember thisministry in your will; offer your time to attend one of the funeral/memorial Masses held here at theShrine; or simply become a prayerful member of the deceased’s family for the day.
If you would like more information on the Lazarus Ministry, please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected] or by phone at 617-778-1336.
Thank you,
Julie OgdenDirector, Lazarus Ministry
