Orchid Talk
Bunbury Orchid Society display at the 2016 Inter Society Orchid Challenge and Workshop. Held by the Bunbury Orchid Society over the first weekend in August.
PRESIDENTS REPORT
I would like to sincerely thank every Member of the Bunbury Orchid Society who contributed in any way in the hosting of the 2016 Intersociety Challenge and Workshop held in Busselton on the weekend of the 6th & 7th August at the Busselton Youth & Community Centre. For those Members who were able to attend it certainly proved that the Bunbury Orchid Society has the ability to host any event that may be available. With a dedicated sub-committee organis-ing the Display, Dinner and the benching of wonderful Orchids by our Members. Bunbury won the Overall Award for the Judged section of the Challenge by the ‘proverbially country mile’!! Thanks to those Members who made their Orchids available. The Dinner held in the Busselton RSL Hall attracted 100 Members of various Societies and Tre-vor & Barbara Burnett entertained those attending with a hilarious Mini Olympics that was won by the Margaret River Orchid Society. Friday evening saw about 65 Members of the Societies attending the festivities and a light meal and refreshments as guests of the RSL and the feedback from attendees was very positive and this fostered excellent relationships. On behalf of the Bunbury Orchid Society I would like to thank the Judges of both the OJPWA and the WAOC Panels for their assistance. Our 2016 Spring Show to be held on Saturday & Sunday the 3rd & 4th September, is well ad-vanced in the planning stages, unfortunately I will be attending the ANOS Conference in Kempsey and therefore am unable to attend. I wish all our Members the best of luck in their endeavours for the Show, and hope you will all be able to attend and assist in any way possible. Please contact our hard working Secretary Lyn Harwood if you can assist in manner on a Roster over the weekend, as they say ‘many hands make light work.’ The Venue is the SW Italian Club in White Street, Bunbury. Set up will commence at midday on Friday the 2nd September, with Plants to be entered from 3pm to 6pm with Judging to commence at 7pm. Assistance by Members is required to help on the Door, Kitchen and Society Sales Table. Once again, may I wish you all the success in the Show, and thank our hard working Committee Members and Show Committee for their continued support. Rick Winch President
