Bus Stop November 6-9, 2008 By William Inge During a howling snowstorm, a busload of weary travelers must hole up at a roadside diner until morn- ing. A nightclub singer named Cherie has been kid- napped by a young cowboy who is ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, kicking and scream- ing, down the aisle. Even as she’s ducking out from under his clumsy embraces, she muses, “Somehow deep inside of me I got a funny feeling I’m gonna end up in Montana...” As a counterpoint to the romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle- age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young waitress also gets her first taste of romance. “Inge...brings to the theatre a kind of warmhearted compassion, creative vigor, freshness of approach and appreciation of average humanity that can be wonder- fully touching and stimulating.” - NY Post. Beanie and the Bamboozling Book Machine May 14, 2009 Authors: Bob May, Christopher Tibbetts, and Roy C. Booth Beanie Boren, a science wiz who is not keen on read- ing, has designed a book reading machine for the science fair. The machine combines a computer, a mini video camera, and a contraption of Beanie’s own design to enable it to read one to three books at once. Unfortunately, the machine is neither user friendly nor bug free. When Beanie turns it on, lights flash, thunder booms, and out pop the witches from Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and the Wizard of Oz, each set to wreak havoc! Beanie must get them back into the books with help from the good guys. Afterward, he is eager to read - the old fashioned way. ...The Totally Awesome Season! Wow, what an awesome decade it’s been! As I begin my 10 th season with Chipola, our Theatre Department continues a program full of energy, talent, and an excellent reputation.
