Speaker Information

Dr. Bipin Chadha is an Enterprise/Business Architect at USAA. At USAA he is involved in developing analytical and simulation models to enable operational business decisions and alignment of business initiatives with strategic objectives of the enterprise. He has developed several decision support models that are being used for capability roadmaps, operational risk analyses, capacity planning and scheduling, portfolio optimization, and business case analyses. Prior to USAA, he was VP Solutions Development for NuTech Solutions. There he developed numerous decision support and war gaming models using system dynamics, agent based modeling, swarm algorithms, advanced analytics, and optimization algorithms. These models were used by fortune 500 and DoD clients to make

strategic decisions in the face of uncertain market, geo-political, and regulatory environments. Prior to NuTech, he held Principal Architect positions at PTC, Coensys, and Lockheed Martin and worked on several advanced technology programs for DARPA, AFRL, NRL and commercial clients. Bipin received his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He has published over 50 papers in international conferences and Journals.

Bridging the Gap between Business Value and BIAnalytics/BI creates business value when actionable insights are generated and potential outcomes of actions and decisions are understood. This presentation will describe a decision framework that combines advanced analytics, operations research methods, and enterprise architecture concepts to create a dynamic and systemic model of an enterprise.

Centralized Analytics)

New tools, better training and more connectivity to other areas of the business have enabled growth for both associates and the enterprise. Josh Tracy will describe the approach his team has used to knock down silos, institutionalize insight and enable more wide-ranging and inclusive analysis.

Organizing For GI Program Success.

There are plenty of articles, books and research materials available on this topic, so why would I want to speak about it, and more importantly why would you want to listen to me? Simply, because too many BI programs fail to deliver on their expected results. While there is a full spectrum of potential reasons, a few of them are more critical than others. I will share some lessons we learnt through the challenges we encountered.

Business intelligence is a shared service, so when analytics resources are in short supply, it becomes paramount to set expectations for multiple departments with competing initiatives.

Prioritizing Intelligence When Initiatives Compete

If not done well, there are several pitfalls that can be a detriment to how effective BI is in satisfying the organization’s analytical needs; ranging from organizational bias, scapegoating BI for lack of data, loss of big picture visibility, slower acceptance of BI, etc. Do not let the department with the most engaged leadership drive BI priorities, while other departments blame BI for lack of support. Hear what has worked and not worked in driving the business to ask better questions, prioritizing what data gets included in BI, and branding BI as a trusted information source.
