LOLO PASSThis is Lolo Pass in the Rocky Mountains. In 1805, a group of 35 hungry people went through Lolo. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led the expedition. They had two goals. One was to find an all-water route from the Mississippi river all the to the Pacific Ocean. It failed. The second was to explore west Mississippi. They did very well. They got a first look at the west region. Lolo was a stop on Lewis and Clark Trail. When they reached it they only had soup mix that everyone hated. They survived by eating bear oil, candles and two of their horses. If you walk the trail remember to food!

Glacier National ParkGlacier National Park is located in Flathead County. It was established on May 11, 1910. The park has over 1000000 acres. It has over 130 lakes and more than 1000 species of plants and hundreds of animals. The place that became Glacier was originally inhabited by Native Americans and when the European explores arrived, the region was dominated by the Blackfeet soon the park begun establishing on May 11, 1910. A number of hotels in chalets were built. By 1932, the work was completed. Glacier has almost lost all its plants and animals species because of forest fires.

Beaverhead Rock State ParkBeaverhead Rock State Park is a feature of rock that was identified by Sacagawea during the Lewis and Clark expedition as a landmark not distant from the summer retreat of her clan. The park is located in Madison county. “The hill”, she says, “looks like what her nation calls the beaver’s head. From a similar resemblance of its figure to the head of a beaver.”
