• The Greeks were the first people who came up with an idea about slavery/immigration.
• Other countries like Rome took the idea of slavery/immigration and added on to it.
CHEAP LABOR
Romans would get their slaves from the wars that they had and they would
capture them. The Romans would have their slaves
do anything they would tell them, which equals to cheap labor.
Results of Immigration/SlaveryFor Rome
• Less jobs available for local citizens• Over populated land • Many coulters• Many languages• Racial problems• Unhappy families
Slavery Treatment • Rome had the most slaves• Very dependent on them • Reasonable treatment of slaves
was necessary. • Slaves were given many
privileges• Comfort, good clothes, descent
food• Masters showed their loyalty by
giving their slaves the right to have their own money.
US Immigration
• Major source of population• Culture change • Less jobs available for citizens• Different languages• Racial problems• More crime
Against Illegal Immigrants
• Captured and deported
• No legal rights on US land
• No public education• No legal jobs
• 12.7 million immigrants • 32% of all living immigrants
are Mexicans• 55% of Mexican immigrants
are in USA illegally • 5% Filipinos
Conclusion
• United States seems like followed Romans footsteps to the path of greatness.
• Both immigrants and Roman slaves did the cheap labor.
• United States took Romans ideas but are still different in some ways.
