into 3 different types of subdivisions: North/South, East/West, and Inland/Coastal. East/West is rarely a subdivision that the Japanese pay much attention to anymore, but the East used to consist of Chiba, Tochigi and Ibaraki, and the West consisted of Tokyo, Gunma, Saitama and Kanagawa.

FoodsNikujaga Beef is used in Kansai, and
pork is used in Kanto. This is because in old times, Kanto people used horses to pull carriage, but Kansai used cows to do that.
Mochi Mochi in Kansai are round,
and in Kanto it is square. Mochi used to be round everywhere but now its changed.
