Occupational Therapists

An Occupational Therapists treat injured, ill, or disable patients through therapeutic use of everyday activities

Therapists teach patients how to use the appropriate adaptive equipment, such as leg braces, wheelchairs, and eating aids.

Duties

Observe patients doing tasks and review their medical history.

Evaluate a patient’s condition and needs. Educate a patient’s family and employer about how to

accommodate and care for the patient. Recommend special equipment and instruct the patient

how to use that equipment. Assess and record the patients’ activities and progress for

the patient evaluations, for billing, and for reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers.

They work for mental health settings where they help patients who suffer development disabilities.

Work Environment

A therapist spend a lot of time on their feet while working with patients.

They are also required to lift and move patients heavy equipment.

Education Requirements

You will need a master’s and doctoral programs require at least 24 weeks of supervised fieldwork.

No it does not have co-op programs recommended.
