WHY FIT AN AIR CURTAIN?

Comfort: Air curtains help promote the perfect environment whetherwarm, cool or ambient.

Open Door Policy: Air curtains promote open door trading in retail outlets andprovides uninterrupted access for passing trade.

Energy Saving: Air curtains over open doors promote significant energy savings.

Protection: Air curtains help to ensure a clean and healthyenvironment.

Health and Safety: In refrigeration applications, Thermoscreens cold store aircurtains can significantly reduce the ingress of warm airwhen doors are required to be left open for accesshelping to retain the refrigerated air inside.

Ease of Installation: Air curtains are not only easy to install but also easy tomaintain throughout their serviceable life. A simple andcost effe ctive solution for a comfortable environment.

Typically warm air escapes and coldair enters.

With an air curtain warm air is retainedand cold air entering is heated.

THE PERFECT ENVIRONMENT

AIR CURTAIN SELECTION GUIDE

www.thermoscreens.ca7

To ensure maximum effectiveness and comfort, it is important to choose the correct air curtain. An air curtain with toolittle velocity will not be able to stop cold draughts from entering the building whilst an air curtain that is too powerful whichhas been installed at the incorrect door height could be noisy and uncomfortable.

To select the appropriate air curtain the following factors should be taken into account:• Type of building and the interior design of the premises• Type of air curtain required Surface Mounted Recessed

- Surface mounted or recessed - Electrical, Water or Ambient

• Voltage and power supply• Installation height - If an air curtain is to operate to maximum effectiveness, it is essential that the air curtain hassufficient air velocity to discharge over the whole height and width of the doorway.

• The width of the door opening - The air curtain should be wider than the width of the door. Overlapping the fullopening, the air curtain controls the ingress or air and other pollutants maintaining a comfortable environment.

• Characteristics of buildings (i.e. door way locations, through draughts).• Ensure the units are positioned as close to the door opening as possible and that there are no obstructions between theair curtain jet of air and the opening of the door.

ECOPOWER PLUS TECHNICAL FEATURES

New DesignThe new ‘single gang wall box’ design will fit flush against the walland will be surface mounted. This new shape and design willfacilitate ease of installation and operation. The Ecopower Plus issupplied with 6m lead as standard.

Built-in Thermistor Temperature Sensor The Ecopower Plus offers significantenergy savings with the built-intemperature sensor. The air curtaincan now use the built-in temperaturesensor for heating control. Thisallows for optimum usage of the aircurtain and maintains a comfortableenvironment. If temperature sensing remote to theair curtain is not required, thetemperature sensor within the aircurtain can be extended to sense theair curtain’s return air temperature.

Optional Outdoor SensorThe Ecopower Plus features the option to connect to an outdoortemperature sensor. This feature operates in automatic mode to thefollowing settings:

If the outdoor temperature sensor measures less than 10 ºC (50 ºF), both heat stages are enabled (Full heat).

If the outdoor temperature sensor measures between 10 ºC (50 ºF) and 15 ºC (59 ºF) only 1st stage heating will be enabled(Half heat).

If the outdoor temperature sensor measures more than 15 ºC (59 ºF), no heat stages are enabled and the air curtain will re-circulate the ambient air in the room as no heating isrequired.

Memory User SettingsIf the electrical supply to the unit is removed, once it is restored theunit will operate on the exact settings as before. The controller issupplied with retain user settings as the default position.

** Sound pressure levels (dBA) at 3m, as given in our brochure, are for a single air curtain mounted at its maximum mounting height, operating in a room with average acoustic characteristics as defined inCIBSE Guide B5 (reverberation time 0.7s) and a room size equivalent to 8 air changes per hour (ac/h). Care needs to be taken when selecting air curtains for an installation as noise levels can be severaldB higher if the mounting height is reduced, if the room is more “live” (i.e. hard surfaces, no furnishings or absorbent materials), if the room is smaller than 8 ac/h equivalent or a combination of thesefactors. Noise levels will also increase if more than one air curtain is installed at the same doorway (e.g. + 3dBA for 2 equal point sources: direct field).
