Thanksgiving for Mary, Our MotherO Jesus, Divine Master, I thank and bless Your most merciful Heart for having given us Mary most holy as our Mother, Teacher and Queen. From the cross You placed us all in her hands. You gave her a great heart, much wisdom and immense power. May all mankind know her, pray for her! May all permit themselves to be led by her to You, the Savior of mankind! I placed myself in her hands, as You placed Yourself. With this Mother I want to live now, in the hour of my death, and for all eternity. Amen.

A Prayer To The Holy Mother

O Blessed Virgin, pray to God for us always, that He may pardon us and give us grace, pray to God for us always, that He may grant us peace in this life pray to God for us always, that He may reward us with paradise at our death. Amen.

Diocesan Wide Priest RetreatThis week, Monday, May 30th to Friday June 3rd, Fr. Jerry and Fr. Balonwu will join all the diocesan priests for a retreat with the Bishop in Mississauga. Let us pray that they return recharged and renewed!Fr. Rey will not be attending the retreat as he is obligated to the hospital. Therefore we will continue to have our regular daily Masses.

Vantage Point is a casual and conversational environment where people who are exploring Catholic Christianity get to know more about the basic message of Christ and the mission of His Church. If you, or someone you know, would like more information or be interested in joining the Catholic faith, sign up for the fall. Please call the office or talk to us at the Welcome Desk.

Priest Benefit Fund CollectionOur priests in the Diocese have been our shepherds for generations touching the peaks and valleys of our lives. They baptize us, teach us, bring us God’s forgiveness, give us Christ Himself in the Mass, prepare us for marriage, and for our eternal home. Now they need your assistance. Can you help us to provide for the care and dignity our retired priests deserve? The main collection will take place next weekend, June 4/5 but donations are welcome at any time. Thank you for your generosity. Envelopes are at the church doors if you need one.

ReflectionJesus continued to teach the crowds that had gathered until late in the day when his disciples came to him and said that Jesus should let the crowd go so that they might find food and a place to stay. Jesus told the disciples to feed the crowd themselves, but they knew it would be impossible because they only had five loaves of bread and two fish among them. Jesus instructed the disciples to divide the people into groups of fifty. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, blessed and broke them and shared them among the people. Not only was this food sufficient for the crowd but they had twelve baskets of leftovers.

Marriage TipSpring cleaning is about revitalizing our hibernating homes. It's also a great time to refresh your marriage. Make the decision as a couple to spend some time together on a mini-date taking a walk or sharing a coffee; give your spouse some "guilt-free" time off from household duties; learn something new about your spouse (no matter how long you've been married!); tell your spouse why they are still special to you. Remember what it was like to be newly in love? This spring, feel that way all over again.

NEXT Sunday, June 5th, after morning Masses. $7/adults and $3/children 12 and under,

$15/family (2 adults3 children 12 & under) Join us for delicious scrambled eggs, sausages, homefries, pancakes, toast, dessert, coffee/tea/juice. Pay at the door.

All welcome!

This past week at Edge we learned about Jesus as the Good Shepherd and how Jesus gives Himself as a gift to us in the Eucharist. We also played some games like Balloon Pop and follow the Shepherd.

StewardshipA Eucharistic theme fittingly links today’s Scripture passages. In the Book of Genesis, Melchizedek, the king of Salem, shares a meal of bread and wine with Abram (later Abraham). St. Paul, in his First Letter to the Corinthians, describes Christ’s institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Some Scripture scholars consider this to be the first account of the last Supper recorded in the New Testament after the Gospels. In St. Luke’s Gospel, Jesus miraculously heals the sick and feeds 5,000 followers. At every Mass, the priest consecrates the bread and wine into the true Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, and for spiritual nourishment to strengthen us in our pursuit of holiness. As faith-filled stewards, we stand in complete awe of this tremendous gift. And in heartfelt gratitude, we return to the Lord a generous portion of our abundant blessings of time, talent, and treasure to our parishes and to those in need. Participate in the Eucharistic celebration of the Mass on this feast day, receive Holy Communion, and spend time in Eucharistic Adoration.

PENTECOST MESSAGETO CATHOLIC MOVEMENTS AND ASSOCIATIONS

Dear Members of Movements and Associations,

In his Bull of Indiction proclaiming the Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis said:

“The Church’s first truth is the love of Christ. The Church makes herself a servant of this love and mediates it to all people: a love that forgives and expresses itself in the gift of oneself. Consequently, wherever the Church is present, the mercy of the Father must be evident. In our parishes, communities, associations and movements, in a word, wherever there are Christians, everyone should find an oasis of mercy.” (Misericordiae Vultus 12)

As with all graces from God, the Holy Father is offering us both a gift and a responsibility.

The gift we are being offered is a fresh experience of the Mercy of God. Mercy, as we all know, is a very powerful gift – it is forgiveness, when justice would demand punishment. This is why we can only fully appreciate the gift of mercy when we first understand the consequences our sins might merit; namely alienation from God – not because God has abandoned us, but because we have turned our back towards God’s constant love. The mercy of God is the love that overcomes the loneliness and emptiness our sins can cause. How blessed we are that God chooses to hold out to us the great gift of mercy, freeing us from sin and restoring us completely in a relationship of love.

The responsibility with which we are challenged is to become ambassadors of God’s mercy. In his great love, the Father chose to reveal his mercy in the greatest way possible. In his Son, Jesus became the mercy of God made flesh. As God once chose to do through his Son, he now desires to do through each one of us. We who have first experienced the mercy of God are now asked to be the ones who make God’s mercy human and real for the sake of those we encounter day in and day out. What a blessing we can be for those whose lives we touch with the mercy of God.

In this Jubilee of Mercy, we are invited to open ourselves to the gift of mercy and we are invited to take up the responsibility of promoting mercy. Our membership in the various Movements and Associations gives each of us unique opportunities to both experience God’s mercy and be ambassadors of God’s mercy. Therefore, “Be merciful just as your Father is merciful” (Lk 6:36).
