ReflectionAt the end of Luke’s gospel, the disciples were still trying to understand what happened to Jesus, and Jesus was still trying to help them figure it out. Following his resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples again. They still had a hard time recognizing him and figuring out if he was a ghost. To help them know he was really there with them, Jesus ate a piece of fish and asked the disciples to go out into the world to tell others the Good News. The early Church of Luke’s community had the same problem, and much of Luke’s writing was intended to help these new Christians see that the resur-rection was indeed real. As he did at the Last Supper Jesus once again broke bread with the disciples and offered them his body.

A Vocation View What could convince someone to turn to God? That God became man and is the sacrifice that takes our sins away. Let us pray - Lord Jesus, make Your word plain to us and set our hearts on fire with love when You speak. Enable us to respond to the call to be witnesses of Your love.

World day of Prayers for VocationsOn the Fourth Sunday of Easter, Christians are invited to reflect on the meaning of God’s call and to pray for vocations. Christ, the Good Shepherd, continues to lead his people through his Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, and calls many to follow him in this way. Priestly, diaconal, and religious vocations should be a constant concern in the hearts of God’s people throughout the year.

stalphonsus.netOur website www.stalphonsus.net has experienced a facelift. Please be patient with us as we are updating content and information. We will have a completed product by the beginning of May. Go ahead, take a peek, checkout our website!

Special Meaning of EasterThe communal character of the Eucharist emerges in a special way when it is seen as the Easter banquet in which Christ himself becomes our nourishment. In fact, “For this purpose Christ entrusted to the Church this sacrifice: so that the faithful might share in it, both spiritually, in faith and charity, and sacramentally, in the banquet of holy communion. Sharing in the Lord’s Supper is always communion with Christ, who offers himself for us in sacrifice to the Father.” -Dies Domini, #44

Altar Server Roll CallAltar Servers are the young (and not so young) people who assist the priests at the altar. This important ministry is open to any boy or girl who has already celebrated their First Communion. Training is provided and joining is simple. Come speak to Fr. Jerry after Mass and we’ll get you started.

Welcome to St. Alphonsus Liguori!St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish is a Catholic Christian Community of Disciples of the Lord Jesus. We believe that everyone is called to be on a spiritual journey and what matters is not where a person is on that journey, but actually being on the journey. Therefore we seek to welcome all people, regardless of the stage of their spiritual life, their struggles and failures. We simply ask that you walk with us and be open to what God is calling you to. We believe that God calls each member of our parish to worship,

to grow, to serve, to connect and to give.

An Invitation to Come and Meet JesusThere are people in our community who are searching for meaning in their lives. They are literally hungry for God. As Catholics, we have the bread to feed that hunger, but there’s a catch: The searchers in our midst wait for an invitation from you and from me. Look around you. Extend the invitation to come and meet Jesus. Bring them to Mass with you. God is doing a lot of good work here at St. Alphonsus Parish - let’s share that goodness with people around us!

If everybody who sees this promised to bring someone (or two, or three) to Vantage Point (our RCIA program) this fall, we would have hundreds of confirmations and baptisms next year. # ThinkAboutIt

unborn child and became an out-spoken pro-life leader. This story

of his journey to the Catholic Faith is both dramatic & inspiring.

We ask for a donation of $5 per DVD which can be found in the

Narthex of the Church.

stewardship thoughtsOur Lord’s call to us to forego sin by following His commandments, to repent, and to seek forgiveness

connect today’s Scripture pass-ages. St. Peter, in the Acts of the Apostles, calls us to reform our lives and turn to God. Likewise, St. John reminds us that Jesus is an offering for our sins. Through His death and Resurrection, Jesus

freed us from sin. Faithful stewards acknowledge His true

presence in the Eucharist, as did the disciples on the road to

Emmaus after His Resurrection in the break-ing of the bread. The

Church has long taught that partaking of the Eucharist

strengthens us on our journey as Christ’s disciples, and that partici-pating in the Sacrament of Recon-

ciliation can draw us closer to Him, bring peace to our lives.
