Topics The structure, the composition and spatial distri- bution of molecular species in the membrane lipid matrix; matrix features closely linked to the nutrient supply: polyunsaturated fatty acids (except their active bio-oxygenated derivatives), structures with a sterol or a quinone nucleus, bivalent cations; the cau~al relationship(s) between matrix properties and membrane- bound activities; an assessment of the physiolo- gical significance of nutrients in the lipid matrix of healthy individuals and in some membrane manifestations in disease states. The aim is to improve the understanding of human or animal nutritional requirements.
