• Proper Pre-Cooling– Once the grapes are packed, it is important to bring the

pulp temperature down to 34 degrees as soon as possible. The “forced air cooling” process is very expensive and requires state of the art refrigeration systems.

• Humidity– The storage rooms are designed to maintain maximum

humidity. This helps keep the grapes firm, fresh and the stems green and pliable.

• Handling and Shipment– Electric forklifts load pallets of wine grapes into

refrigerated trailers set to 34 degrees. A portable temperature recording device monitors trailer temperatures during transit.

• As the largest and most established growing region in California, the Central San Joaquin Valley is known for it’s consistent quality and exceptional value.

• Mature vineyards produce high quality, balanced fruit from rich soils that are perfectly matched for growing wine grapes. Increased yields from a warmer climate allows winemakers to purchase premium quality wine grapes at more competitive prices.

• Nearly all of the varieties that are enjoyed from the Napa, Sonoma and other well known growing regions are available from Central California.

• Recently, we have seen an increased call from many winemakers for grapes from some of California’s premier wine growing regions.

• For this reason the Fazio Family and Tri-Boro Fruit Company have developed the Fazio’s CALIFORNIA BEAUTY® program, featuring premium wine grapes acquired from regions long known for some of California’s finest wines.

• While grapes are available at extremely high prices from Napa and Sonoma Counties, we have chosen to work primarily with growers from the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Foothills. This area has become known for it’s premium wine grapes and excellent value. Many of California’s small premium wineries and larger premium wineries, such as Robert Mondavi, are now located in this area of the eastern Lodi Region, Amador and Calaveras Counties.

• The Sierra Foothills Wine Region stretches from Yuba County in the north to Mariposa County in the south, along the western portion of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Sierra Foothills could be described as an interior growing region, but its climate and soil conditions starkly contrast all aspects of those viticulture areas on the extensive valley floor below.

• A distinct four-season climate, the shallow, mountainside soils create moderate stress on the vines, producing low to moderate yields and high quality. East of the San Francisco Bay delta breezes sweep up the slopes cooling the vines yet allowing enough heat to produce plump, sweet berries and some of the finest wine grapes in California.

• The Sierra Foothills region is one of the best kept secrets in California wine production. We have personally chosen the grapes from this area for Fazio's CALIFORNIA BEAUTY because of their high quality and great value.
