In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Merciful

Alhamdulillah, it is our great honor to reunite with parents, campers, and staff members for another year of Camp Al Asr. We have been spending the past several months to build an unforgettable experience for our youth this year. We hope every unique child will find something meaningful for him/her. A community grows in strength when attention is paid to our collective spiritual, mental, and physical health. We will start and end each day by connecting to our Creator through Quran recitation, jama’at prayer, and candid discussions with scholars and teachers. We will push our minds through workshops and competitions every evening. And finally, we will spend every day embracing Allah’s creation around us through daily trips and wholesome food. Every camper and parent, and every workshop leader, speaker, staff member, and activity coordinator is necessary to the health of our community. We are sincerely grateful for every person who has contributed to create Camp Al Asr. In this handbook, you will find policies for every aspect of your stay with us. You will also find a suggested packing list and a tentative schedule. With these few, short steps, and under the protection of Allah SWT, His Prophet Muhammad PBUH, and Wali Al Asr ATFS, let us begin! On behalf of the Camp Al Asr Board and Staff, welcome!

Discipline Policies First and foremost, this camp is for living with islamic adab and akhlaq while having summer fun. Behavior is expected to fit this goal inshaAllah. We hope we will all develop during these days and continue what we have learned with our families. Camp Al Asr is operated for the benefit of young people. For it to be a pleasant experience for all, all must conform to the rules and regulations. Camp will operate on a points system, with points awarded to teams for good behavior of its members. Points can be won for participation, cleanliness, competitions, etc. There are not many ways to lose points, and inshaAllah we will not need to deduct any points. Individuals will receive warnings for rule breaking and bad behavior. After the second warning, parents will be asked to take the camper back home. Rules and Regulations

• Campers should be prompt and punctual to all events. • No one is to be excused from activities. • Campers should be aware we will use any means necessary to wake them up for Fajr! • Safety must be observed around the bonfire. Campers who throw objects into the fire will

receive a warning. • Cleanliness and respect for grounds and property are expected. • Sickness and accidents must be reported immediately. If a camper is deemed to be unwell

by the physician-on-site, they will be asked to kindly return home until recovered. We live in close quarters and one sick camper could lead to 50 sick campers.

• Campers are not to leave the campgrounds without permission. • Hijab must be observed in all public areas. Proper clothing is expected at all times. Boys

must refrain from wearing shorts during activities where all campers are present. Likewise, girls must wear hijab on camp grounds and when with all campers.

• No skin tight clothing is allowed. Boys shall not remove shirts for recreation periods or at any other time, except in the boys' designated areas.

The following areas are off limits to campers unless authorized to enter or permitted by the camp schedule:

• Kitchen, • Dining hall, • Swimming area, • Pond area, • Parked cars, or • Any buildings not in use as a part of the schedule.

Everyone is expected to fully cooperate with the Camp Staff. Campers must fulfill their assigned work. The board reserves the right to send home anyone who willfully disobeys. Luggage & Belongings During check-in, campers will be shown to their sleeping areas. All campers are expected to remain in their assigned tent. Campers are expected to keep these areas clean at all times. There will be daily inspections to make sure sleeping bags are folded, bags are stowed away, and that belongings are neatly put aside. There will be no late night snacking! Do not take snacks into your sleeping areas, as these can attract bugs. Once lights out is called, there should be a decrease in talking. Please respect your fellow campers and camp staff. Sleeping areas should only be occupied for clean up and at night. No campers should be in their tent during activities. If campers are found not participating and in their room/tent, they will receive a warning. Pool & Trip Rules Only swimsuits or swim suit material clothing. No one is allowed with regular pants or shirts. The water gets cloudy and is difficult to clean. No jumping. No screaming. No going in and out a lot, as it attracts fine dirt in the pool. Afterwards, if you decide to clean off, it has to be a quick rinse lasting no more than a minute. Seating into vehicles will be decided by the director. For the most part, our trips require short drives. Campers are expected to treat all vehicles as they treat other camp facilities and keep them clean and free from rubbish. At all times, respect the driver's rules. Safety first! Exit and enter vehicles calmly, and keep track of all your possessions. Anything left behind will be donated so make sure you get all your belongings.

Packing List Mandatory Items:
