The Shell Turbo Oils combined-cycle (CC) range helps tackle the long-standing problem of lacquer or varnish for-mation in servo-valves, which causes the valves to stick or seize. CAM FOLLOWERSThis new line of high carbon steel needle bearing sealed cam followers is identified as the BBXCAM-CN Series. They feature hardened and ground outer race and low-carbon alloy steel hardened studs and inner races. Both hex-head or slotted-head type, they are available in nominal I.D.’s ranging from ½” to 4”. ROTARY TABLEThe ZR20 rotary table features a small footprint step-per motor that is suitable for applications where space is at a premium. The table is operated by a 2-phase stepper motor with a 20:1 ratio – fine resolution in a compact package. At 200 steps per revolution, half step, the resolution of this motor is 2.7 arc/minutes, and can handle a 10 kg maximum load. The ZR20 is ideal for countless automation applications that include pick and place, assembly, testing, inspection, dispens-ing and part transferring. An example of this would be rotating a part in and out of a UV curing station or paint booth. PROGRAMMABLE DISPENSING SYSTEMSThe PDS-100 Programmable Dispensing System uses precision stepper motors to control a variety of FMI’s patented valve-less piston pumps. The PDS-100 has a range from 500 nanoliters per dispense to 2 liters per minute continuous flow. It will accommodate all FMI pump sizes in both fixed and adjustable displacement config-urations. INTERNAL GEAR PUMPSViking Pump has expanded the range of its Universal Seal series pumps to 1,600 GPM with the release of the “RS” size. This series of internal gear pumps can de-velop pressures to 200 psi. This flexible design also lets you change seal types in the field to adjust to new operating conditions. MAGNETIC SAFETY SWITCHThe robust XCSDM3/4 magnetic safety switch is compact, easy to install and highly tolerant to misalignment. The switch is used as a safety interlock on movable machine guards and/or where frequent washdown takes place. Standard safety switches are wired back to a panel to a safety relay for fail safe operation. The XCSDM3/4 features an integrated safety relay enabling it to self-check and detect its own failure without the use of an external safety relay. FORKLIFTThe S Series product line has been ex-panded by adding a 16,000 lb capacity model. The new S160-4 has fulltime four wheel drive and four equal sized wheels. By steering both axles, the S160-4 has a tight turning radius of 150”. It is powered by a Dieselmax 444 Turbocharged Tier III diesel engine producing 114 hp, and is coupled to a fully automatic power-shift transmission for efficient operation. JET STREAM TOOLINGSeco Tools has announced the availability of its Jetstream Tooling™, a range of high-performance tools designed to de-liver coolant directly at the insert cutting edge for productivity gains. This tooling achieves better chip control along with increased tool life and cutting speed and feed rates across virtually all coolant pres-sures (70 psi-5000 psi) and many material types — specifically titanium alloys, but also nickel-chromium, aluminum and steel alloys, as well as stainless steels. Coolant is applied through the tooling nozzle at high pressure close to the cut-ting edge, cooling the work area and pro-ducing smaller, hard, brittle chips. The high pressure jet then breaks and lifts the chips away from the cutting area without damaging expensive components or tool-ing. Schneider Packaging Equipment Co. Inc. uses maintenance-free DryLin® W linear guides in a custom pack-

aging machine used to box up four cases of plastic bottles per minute, 24 hours a day. The linear guides replace standard slotted brackets and act as a vertical guide for the machine’s grabbing device.

Schneider also uses DryLin linear guides on a pneumatic arm pick-and-place mechanism used to package toner car-tridges. They were integrated due to their resistance to the acidic toner and their low maintenance requirements.

LINEAR MOTION DRIVEThe Amacoil/Uhing model RG linear drive features mechanical control over travel direction and linear speed eliminat-ing the need for an electronic control sys-tem. Reversal of travel direction is auto-matic regardless of the speed or rotational direction of the shaft. Length of travel is increased or decreased using manually set end stops. Travel speed may also be regu-lated using a manual control on the drive unit without requiring changes to motor speed or gearing. BALL BUSHINGSThe LG Linear Guide Ball Bushing offers high accuracy, smooth motion and high load capacities. The LG’s rotation preven-tion function, where four rows of circular arc grooves are arranged on the shaft, is included to ensure precise movement. LINEAR ENCODERSThe components used in a vacuum are subjected to especially high demands af-fecting the encoders used in the position-ing task. Thiele Technologies, a leader in packaging technology and equipment, recently faced the problem of how to compen-sate for inconsistent bag dimensions on its popular

modu lar bag fi lling and sealing system. Thiele serves customers in the diverse bulk materials processing industries, and the bagging system is designed to measure, fi ll and seal bags con-taining anything from pet food to salt, sugar, dirt, seed, fertilizer or animal feed. Many of Thiele’s customer’s had switched to low-cost bags with irregular dimensions. These irregularly sized bags were slowing the production process, which requires high-speed accuracy to meet manufacturing goals.

Since repeatability is critical to the fi lling and sealing oper-ation, Thiele engineers sought a solution that would increase accuracy, fl exibility and productivity for packagers. They found their solution in four custom electric screw linear actuators from Tolomatic that precisely position incoming empty bags. The bagging system now automatically compensates for variations in bag dimensions and eliminates manual setup when changing bag sizes.Tolomatic


The Thiele modular bagging system is designed to fi ll and seal a wide range of materials and bag sizes. Two ganged Tolomatic actuators center the bags in the staging

trays while two other actuators adjust the vertical position.

MOTOR CONTROL CENTREThe Allen-Bradley CENTERLINE 2500 motor control center (MCC) ArcShield option helps reduce arc flash hazards and improves protection against internal elec-tric arcs. The 2500 MCC provides indus-try-leading arc flash protection in a low voltage MCC per IEC/TR 61641:2008 for arcing durations up to 300 millisec-onds. By containing the arc fault, it helps reduce the potential of worker exposure to hazardous conditions. The ArcShield option provides a pressure relief system that exhausts gases through the top of the enclosure, away from personnel and en-closures, without front ventilation. Rockwell Automation


HYBRID STEPPER MOTORSHS Series hybrid stepper motors are of-fered in three standard NEMA frame sizes with step resolutions of 1.8° in full-step mode. Motor lengths range from 1.614” to 5.591” and holding torques (bipolar) from 71 oz-in to 1416 oz-in can be achieved, depending on model. All incorporate pre-cision-honed stators and ground rotors for tight air gap and improved perform-ance; high temperature grade neodymium iron-bore magnets and simple- or double-ended shaft extensions. Motor rotation can run clockwise or counterclockwise. The number of standard leads is 4, 6 or 8, depending on model. DYNAMOMETER SYSTEMThe small motor dynamometer system features an in-line rotating torque sensor and a computer controlled low torque/high speed hysteresis brake allowing for precise torque control. This system is spe-cifically designed to interface with motor controllers and allows manufacturers to test small capacity electric motors under 100in-lbs/12Nm. With the company’s proprietary software, manufacturers can interface with various controllers and exercise them under various braking con-ditions.
