From Girl Scouts to poker players, actors to volleyball teams, the weSPARK communityis growing and, most importantly, you continue to support us as we expand our services and reach new horizons.

This year, weSPARK received a grant from the Ahmanson Foundation to update our computer system. The dial tone is beingreplaced by a tone of innovation. On occasion, guests are not able to come to weSPARK for support, whether they can’t drive themselves to our center or are not feeling well. We decided that this obstaclewould not be insurmountable. Which is

why we have begun the process of creatingonline programming for guests near and far.

As we grow our online network to include new and exciting educational workshops, stay

tuned….weSPARK will only be a click away.

Words from weSPARKOf course, without your support we could not provide such innovative programmingand help so many people. This has been especially true in the last year, as we launched the weSPARK Annual Fund, the Torchbearers. We could not have imagined the response we received and continue to receive. To quote one of our guests, Gloria,“weSPARK is a place unlike no other. The services you o er are invaluable. I am neveralone during this di cult time.” Because of your generosity and support, people likeGloria and others like her are never alone. See you this fall at our September Comedy & Cabaret Show, October Golf Tournament and November Run/Walk!

Girl Scout Troop 1206 Visits weeSPARK Kids Program Pizza, temporary tattoos and games. Girl Scout Troop 1206 didn’t leave anything out when they visited weSPARK’s kids group on Monday, May 13th. The kids group is for children who have a parent with or have lost a parent to cancer. It was a true delight when the troop came through, setting up a party for the kids. The troop played games

with the kids and handed out prizes to everyone. Girl Scout Mica Pessin led the event to earn her leadership badge. With

the help of the Troop, the event was a success! Thank you to Mica and Troop 1206 for bringing smiles and laughter

to the kids group. We hope to see you again!

The Notre Dame Boys Volleyball team was out in fullforce on April 30th for the annual weSPIKE for weSPARKevent. This year’s event, which has become an annual event, was led by parent Cathy Cressy, who spent months working with other parents to gatherauction items, promote the event and put together gift baskets.

Wearing shirts with the namesof weSPARK guests on them, the team once again tookto the court to play theirfi nal games of the seasonagainst Crespi Carmelite HighSchool, all while helping weSPARKraise funds for needed support services. With a silentauction that included an array of items from localbusinesses who supported the team, the event was ahit for parents and supporters alike. Parents madetheir mark at the grill too, where they were makingburgers and selling snacks. weSPARK’s board members once again lent their support, sponsoring spikes made by the team.

weSPARK congratulates all the boys volleyball teams for their victories over Crespi and wishes all the seniors, who were honored at the weSPIKE event, best of luck on their next adventure!
