■ Multiple sheets are fed in together.

Paper will not feed in from the sheet feeder. / The paper is fed in skewed.

■ The paper jams.

Cause

The paper is too thick.

The sheet feeder is overloaded.

The paper rest is not pulled out.

The paper is folded or curled.

Manual feed is specified in theprinter driver Paper Feed setting.

Solution

To print on paper that is thicker than 0.2mm (up to 0.8mm), feed thepaper manually one sheet at a time. The sheet feeder will only hold paper up to 0.2mm thick. (page 12)

Check that you do not exceed the load limit mark on the sheetfeeder when you are loading the paper. The paper will not be fed correctly if you overload the sheet feeder.(page 8)

When you load media other than envelopes into the sheet feeder, you should pull out the paper rest.If you do not pull out the paper rest, the media will not slide fully into thepaper feed slot and may not be fed into the printer correctly.

Refer to “Notes on media” (page 13) and check that you are usingappropriate media.Paper that is folded, curled or crumpled will not be fed into the printercorrectly, and may also cause paper jams.

Select Auto Feeder.<Procedure> Open the printer driver Printer Properties window, click

■ The colors on the printout do not match the colors on the screen.

The color reproduction methods used by display screens differ from those used by printers. Inaddition, the printed color tones may not perfectly match those on the screen because the colorsvary depending on the circumstances in which the screen is viewed and screen’s color calibrationsettings. For instance, objects that appear blue on the screen are printed purple and objects thatappear pale green on the screen are printed dark green. However, if the differences are extreme, the items below should be checked.

Cause

The print head nozzles in one of theBJ Cartridges are blocked or one ofthe inks has run out

The printer driver settings are notcorrect.

Solution

Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and check the status of the printheads. (page 16)

To print a photo, select the correct print mode icon for thedocument you are printing (such as SuperPhoto). Check also thatthe BJ Cartridge and Media Type settings match the BJ Cartridgeand media you are actually using. (page 7)

■ The paper comes out curled/warped/wrinkled.

Cause

You are printing on very thin paperand excess ink is being absorbedby the pape r.

The print quality is set to Fast.

The print density is set too high.

Solution

Print on specially coated paper such as Canon ’s High ResolutionPaper or Glossy Photo Pape r. (page 12)

Move the Print Quality slider in the printer driver towards Fine.Open the printer driver Printer Properties window, click Advanced... andmove the Print Quality slider on the Quality tab to the right (towardsFine). When you specify a higher quality setting, each line is printed in anumber of passes. Consequently, the ink dries more quickly, and thetendency for paper curl is minimized.

Reduce the print density in the printer drive r.Open the printer driver Printer Properties window, click Advanced... andthen click the Color tab.Move the Intensity slider to the left to lower the print density.
