    cost.

    s Large paper supply

In add ition to its sheet feeder on top of the printer, the pr inter is equipped

with a paper cassette on the bottom of the printer. One additional paper

cassette is available as an option. Both cassettes are universal paper cas-

settes wh ich can be adjusted to hold a variety of stand ard p aper sizes. A

man ual feed slot is also provided on th e back of the pr inter for han d feed-

for overhead projectors (OHP). Do not use photocopier transparenciesbecause they d o not absorb ink well and this causes the ink to run and

smear. You can print on either side of this media.

s Fabric Sheet FS-101. Before you use Fabric Sheet FS- 101, read all the

instructions provided with the packet. Always print on the cloth side.

The Ink Optimizer Tank BCI-8WF, mounted in the left slot of the leftBJ Cartridge, contains a special liquid called an ink optimizer, a newadditive which makes the printed image extremely smear resistant

and water resistant. Please remember that the ink optimizer is usedonly when printing on Plain Paper and is not used for printing onspecial media, or for printing on Plain Paper in draft mode.

Whatever kind of media you d ecide to use, make sure you observe these

general guidelines regarding han dling and storing:

s Always hand le special print media by the ed ges, and never touch the

pr int surface. A scratched or dirty med ia sur face can cause deterioration

    in p rint qu ality.

s After opening a package of special pr int media, store the unu sed sheets in

the original packaging on a flat, clean su rface in a location that is notexposed to direct sunlight, dust, high temperature, or high humidity.

s To ensure the best pr int quality and to avoid paper jams, never attempt to

print on pap er that is folded , or curled.

s Before you load a stack of paper, always fan the sheets to reduce static

cling then stack the paper again so all the edges are even.

    Quick reference media loading table

The table below is a sum mary of imp ortant information you will need to

know wh ile you are working w ith a variety of special med ia. Note the fol-

lowing important points about the table below:

s Media Type. Lists the variety of media that can be u sed w ith this printer.

s Source. The media type determ ines the feed source. Some media can be

fed from either the cassettes or the sheet feeder, and others can be fed

only from the sheet feeder or with manual feed.

s Load Print Side. Printing can be done on either side of some media, but

other m edia typ es like, High Resolution Paper HR-101, High Gloss Photo

Film H G-201, Glossy Photo Pap er GP-301, Glossy Photo Card s FM-101,

and so on, have only one correct print side. This print side mu st be

loaded face up for the sheet feeder and loaded face dow n for the pap er

    cassette.

s Limit. The number of sheets you can load into the feed source is also

determined by the thickness and composition of the media.

*2 The Envelope guides on the inside surfaces of the sheet feeder must be up and locked in

place for feeding envelopes. In all other cases, they should be locked in the down position.
