Only a few days to go! We have been talking about and planning for Connect@Seagoe all year, and finally it is about to happen! The Planning Team has spent a large number of hours, both at meetings and between meetings, in putting together an extensive programme of events designed to cater for all ages and outlooks. Please study the brochure you have received along with this magazine to see what is on offer, and if you have any questions about any of the events please do not hesitate to contact one of the Clergy or the office for clarification. Pray, Invite & Bring That has been our message all year in the build up to the mission. Pray The Planning Team has been praying as they have put the week together that God would guide them to create events suitable for all. You have been encouraged to pray for the mission and that the Lord would guide you to pray for those people you are in contact with whom you would like to come to the events. Without your prayers people will not be as receptive to being invited, and so the mission will be less than it might be. Please keep praying. Invite Again you have been encouraged to invite people to come along to the mission events. I have been pleased to hear from some of you about the positive responses you have already had. You now have the brochure of events which you can give to people to help encourage them to come. People have also been out distributing the flyers door to door around the Parish inviting people along. Your work is crucial not only to your contacts, but also to the success of the mission. If people do not invite people to come to the mission not only will those people lose out, but the mission will also be much less than it might be. Please keep inviting. Bring Praying for people and inviting people is vital, but often offering to bring them with you is what will make the difference. Many people understandably would find it very difficult and intimidating to come to events on their own. However if you are willing to put yourself out to bring them with you then they are much more likely to attend. Your willingness to bring people with you will really make a difference to the success of the mission and to the impact it can have both on those you bring and everyone else. Please bring many with you. Life changing The Gospel Message will be presented by Roger and his team at every event. This message has proved to be life-changing for many people for almost 2000 years. Ordinary people throughout history have been presented with the simple message that God who created them loved them enough to do all that was necessary to restore them to Himself by sending His Son Jesus to stand in their place, taking the consequences of their life choices. As a result of Jesusʼ willingness to give Himself for us we are given the gift of a new intimate relationship with God which transforms our living here on earth and continues after death where we will be blessed by an even more intimate bond with God for eternity. I personally thank the Lord for all He has done in my life, for giving me parents and those in my home Church who did so much to guide me towards a personal encounter with Jesus. I thank Him for enabling me to Connect with Jesus many years ago. I cannot begin to describe the changes for good in my life which He has brought about. My life has been far from easy at times, but I have known the Lordʼs help and abundant blessing. I know that He who has never let me down will never do so and I look forward to continuing to enjoy Him for all eternity. Please pray that God will use Connect@Seagoe to impact many people with the Good News of Godʼs love in Jesus. Please pray that people will open their lives to Connect with Jesus so that their lives can be transformed, enjoying the abundant life Jesus came to give us. God bless you all, Terence Saturday 23rd November - Sunday 1st December

Cantilena at ChristmasThe Seagoe singles group provides an opportunity for any singles to meet together for fun, fellowship and companionship.

The group was the brainchild of Heather Forde who, having participated in the Bishopʼs vision evening in Magheralin, spoke to Terence about her desire to do something to help support the many singles in our Church and wider community. Heather was conscious that there are so many people who are on their own for a variety of different reasons.

The group has met on three occasions now for games night, bowling and theatre trip. The next meeting will be or a meal on 7th December, and in January a beetle drive has been planned. Please come along; a warm welcome is extended to all singles.

Christmas would simply not be complete without a performance from the renowned close harmony/choral group Cantilena; which is conducted and directed by Mark Ferguson.

Having sold out the Market Place Theatre for many years, the group has decided to bring some festive cheer to Portadown- more specifically Seagoe Parish Church, Tuesday, 17th December at 8pm.

The first half of the concert will take you on a journey from Advent to the arrival of the three kings with readings and carols, old and new, all by candlelight.

Enjoy a mince pie and glass of Christmas punch during the interval before the group take a more relaxed approach with choral

performances of everything from ʻBlue Christmasʼ to ʻSanta Claus is Coming To Townʼ. The concert is guaranteed to be a hit with all ages!

There will be a retiring collection, part of which will go to the building of a school in India. It is advised that you come early to avoid disappointment!

Farewell and Welcome!

Ronald Roney Jenny Chambers Terence Cadden & Melvyn Lockhart, CL&CGB Regimental Commander

Holy Baptism23rd November 2013Lucy Annie, daughter of Timothy and Lynsey Erskine, Ballinacor MeadowsChristian Burial11th October 2013Rev. Canon Thomas McGonigle, Kernan Gardens

Burial of Ashes12th October 2013Reginald Williams, Charnwood Court

Long service to CLBRonald Roney joined the Church Ladʼs

Brigade when he was 5yrs old and has been a member ever since! At the age of only 15 he was made a Non-commissioned Officer and was given leadership responsibility. Later in life he was appointed Captain, following the resignation of his father, Wilson as Captain.

As a result of Ronaldʼs faithful leadership the Company has continued to attract boys over the years and the company continues to thrive whilst other similar organisations have struggled.

Vestry appreciationAlthough Ronald neither sought nor

wanted to accept recognition, the Select Vestry was adamant that on behalf of the Parish it would mark his service with a gift. A presentation was duly made to Ronald at the recent Church Lads ̓ and Church Girlsʼ Brigade Enrollment Service.

New CGB CaptainLast year we said farewell to Irene

Hewitt who also served for many years as Captain of the CGB. Since then the Officers and Leaders of the CGB had held the organisation together extremely well and we thank them for that.

Af ter much thought, prayer and discussion Terence asked Jenny Chambers to take up the role of Captain for the next three years. Like Ronald, Jenny has been a member and officer in the Church Girlsʼ Brigade since childhood and has proved herself to be extremely faithful in all she does. Terence was delighted when Jenny accepted the responsibility and so at the Enrollment Service she was appointed Captain by Mr. Melvyn Lockhart the new Regimental Commander.

We thank Ronald and Jenny for their long service and we wish then Godʼs richest blessing for the future.

Roger MurphyWe look forward to welcoming Roger back for [email protected] of you will have met Roger when he was over with us for a weekend in June to introduce himself as the person who will be leading the mission.

Roger, an Englishman has roots in Northern Ireland as his father came from Coleraine. Roger has led many missions in Northern Ireland, including most recently St. Judeʼs Belfast (Terenceʼs home Church), and in Drumcree and Craigavon Parishes.

Working alongside Roger will be Paul Woodman, an escapologist and illusionist; and Peter Thompson a young evangelist currently working in Kilkeel.

In addition to the events in the Parish we are delighted that the team will have the opportunity to visit all the local Primary Schools. Paul in particular will have a great input in the schools and in the Great Escape shows he will host.
