What is your job title within Capital International Group?- Head of Business Development & Marketing

Where are you from?- Originally Pinner in London until the age of 8 when our family moved to Cambridge.

What is your partner’s name, if you have one? Marital status? - I am married to Stephanie, who is a Peel girl (neé Quirk)! She “dragged me” over to the Isle of Man when we got married in 2001.

What is it that you enjoy most about your job?- I really enjoy developing new relationships and opening up a new income stream. There is such a buzz about breaking new ground!

I also enjoy meeting clients and contacts, explaining to them what the Capital International Group does and trying to understand how we might be able to help them and their business. Or for people we already work with, trying to work out how we can improve what we already do for greater mutual benefit.

I am also really fortunate that I work with a great team of people so when I am in the office rather than out and about, there is always a good deal of banter and fun.

What was your last holiday?- We were in Koblenz in Germany for New Year visiting friends. Few people holiday in Germany but we love it – beautiful, great food, great wine, friendly people and lovely weather in summer…the only thing it really lacks are Mediterranean beaches. Last summer we

I am fortunate (in my view) to be able to travel with my role which means I am in London regularly, which allows me to catch up with family and friends, most of whom are based in and around the London area. I also get to travel further afield on occasion. However, business travel is not all it is cracked up to be, particularly with the early morning starts / late evenings and the vagaries of IOM air travel! I was accompanied by a colleague recently who has rarely had to travel on business – I think the first 18 hour working day was such a shock to the system, it took them nearly a week to recover!! However, I do recognise that the travel opportunities in my role has meant I have visited places I would probably not get the opportunity to see otherwise.

Name your dream destination and why?- One of the favourite places I have visited is Morocco. It is close (relatively) to the British Isles but culturally so distant. The culture there is fascinating and the mix of heat, smells, food, religion, history and just a totally different way of life make for an amazing holiday experience.

Somewhere I would love to go at some point is Martinique. I have never been to the Caribbean, so I would love to experience that. However, Martinique is French speaking and has plenty of French influences so apparently has a very different feel to the usual Caribbean suspects, such as Bahamas, St Lucia etc…, which I think I would enjoy. Unfortunately, the distance and costs in-volved probably mean I will have to wait a little while for my dream destination to become a reality.

Tell us a fact about yourself that no one knows?- A few people know but most (certainly business contacts) do not know that I studied languages at university and have lived in both France and Germany in the past so theoretically am able to converse fluently in French and German!

Do you have any children?- Two wonderful girls. Graihagh who is 10 and Breesha who is 6.

What was your first pet and its name?- Cat – called Miranda. Very scatty and slightly bonkers, but sadly in catty heaven now having reached the ripe old age of 17!

What’s on your bucket list?- A couple of things come to mind! Experience driving an Aston Martin round a race track! Go skiing in the Rockies – Canada or US, not fussy!
