SPEAKERSDaniel D. TowlePresident, CICACaptive Alternatives is pleased to have Daniel D. Towle, the recently selected President of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) as our 2017 keynote speaker. Dan is the former Director of Financial Services for the State of Vermont and served as the chief marketing and business development professional for Vermont’s captive insurance industry for 17 years.

He is a frequent presenter at national conferences and has published numerous articles in industry trade press. Dan has also been recognized for his contributions to the captive insurance industry by being voted #17 in the 2016 Captive Review “Power 50” which recognizes the most influential individuals in the global captive insurance industry.

Ryan C. WorkVice President of Government Relations, SIIA, Inc.Ryan currently serves as the vice president of government relations for the Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA) where he heads up the association’s federal advocacy and political activities related to captive insurance, self-insurance and other alternative risk issues. In this role, Ryan is responsible for developing and managing strategic outreach and policy development before Congress, the Administration and various federal regulatory agencies. For this work, he has been recognized on Captive Review’s 2015 & 2016 Enterprise Risk Captive Pioneers List.

Prior to joining SIIA, Ryan directed government affairs activities for S&P Global (previously McGraw Hill Financial), where he represented brands including Standard & Poor’s, Platts and J.D. Power. He also managed advocacy activities for Puerto Rico based firm Lasa, Monroig & Veve, focusing on policy and political issues for stakeholders in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Ryan has served in a number of senior staff positions in the U.S. House of Representatives, most recently as Legislative Director for Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (WA). He previously served as Chief of Staff to Rep. Katherine Harris (FL) and in various staff roles with the Committee on Ways and Means and the Office of the Speaker of the House.
