VOLLEYBALL - VarsityAlexandria 3 Fergus Falls 0After a nice weekend break, the Cardinals came out hot against the Fergus Falls Otters winning 3games to Fergus’s 0. It was a special night in the Cardinal gym as it was was a pink out and ghtagainst cancer. The rst set started out with the Cardinals in charge of the game, but the Otters had asmall run. It wasn’t enough as the Cardinals won 25-17. The second set was dominated by theCardinals 25-10. It was a serving game as the Cardinals had 7 aces during this set alone-- 3 by MegSchercliffe. In the nal set, the Otters put up more of a ght, but our Cardinals responded nicely with a25- 20 victory. Leaders of the night include the following: Erika Roderick with 25 assists, 4 digs, 3 kills, and 2 aces; Tessa McGrane with 13 digs, 2 aces, and 2 assists, Mia McGrane had 8 kills, 12 digs, and 4aces; and Ella Grove contributed 7 kills and 1 dig. Sartell pushed their defense up aggressivelyand were successful in playing an off sides trap for most of the rst half. That kept the Cards off theboard until the 32nd minute of the rst half when Emma Reineke scored from 10 yards out off anassist by Hailey Eggebraaten. Emma’s second goal of the night came on a one touch volley with lessthan a minute in the rst half and again was off an assist by Hailey. The Cards showed a betterunderstanding of managing the Sartell D during the second half. 20 minutes into the second half MyahKremer sent a ball up to midelder Aubry Kosters, who got the ball behind the Sartell D, made a goodrun with the ball and scored with a solid shot just inside the penalty area. Hailey Eggebraaten got in onthe scoring knocking in two goals within a minute and a half. 31 minutes into the half Camille Hegstadattacked with the ball. With one defender left to beat, Camille cut the ball back and laid off an unselshpass for Hailey who brought the ball inside the penalty area and gave the Cards a 4-0 lead. A minuteand half later Kamryn Coauette made a run with the ball down the left ank and cut a pass into thebox for Hailey, who was making a weakside run and buried it from 6 yards out. Sartell nally broke theCards shut out with one minute left on the clock. Among the strong performances not seen on thescore sheet was a solid game by outside defender Georgia Reemts. GIRLS SOCCER - JV2Sartell 4 Alexandria 1The JV 2 Cardinal booters knocked off Sartell last night by a score of 4-1. Morgan Jones found the net3 times and Alexa Eggebraaten added the other goal. Mia Marsh - Takaira Wynn Sheldon, FERGUSFALLS 6-3, 6-1, The Cardinal girls tennis team picked up another CLC win last night defeating Fergus Falls 7-0 at theAAHS courts. Singles wins came from Brianna, Taylor, Sarah, and Jaya. Brianna played one of herbetter matches of the season defeating a tough rst singles player in Ellie Colbeck. Brianna wasoverpowering and used good consistency to out play her opponent. If Brianna can stay on the paceshe has shown in her last two matches she will be a force to be reckoned with. Taylor Sayre picked up her rst singles win this season winning at the number 2 spot.Maci and Elle won at third doubles, and this was their rst match together this season. We continue tomake moves in our lineup and the girls continue to impress. We are still trying to nd the exactcombination that will help us come tourney play, and right now we have injuries and illness to thinkabout and work around. We improve to 13-6 overall, and 8-1 in the conference.
