Initiatives:
CAREDF has created new graphic advertisements to promote the region and the
communities within. The new advertisements are part of a targeted advertising
campaign involving three phases:
1. Image Building within the state of Arizona2. Researching, developing, and implementing targeted marketing
strategies and tactics to key industries nationally
3. Creating advertising initiatives for a global marketplaceAdvertising Examples: AZ Business Magazine, AZ Real Estate Magazine,CoreNet Globals The Leader, Medical Device & Manufacturing trade show
and Channel 8/PBS.
IncreaseDeliveryofInformation:
MayorInviteProgram: CAREDF Board of Directors have developed a new program by which the
Mayors representing our public partners on the Board of Directors can invite a City Council
member to join them at our monthly board meetings thereby increasing City Council members
knowledge of CAREDF activities.
QuarterlyReports: CAREDF provides quarterly reports to City Managers informing our public
partners of what activities CAREDF is involved in to promote economic development in our region,
what client activity CAREDF has engaged in and what efforts have been made to promote the region
via marketing and advertising.
CAREDFWebsite:
AdditiontotheSunCorridorWebsite: The City of Maricopa has been added to the CAREDF Sun
Corridor website.
WebsiteInformation: Since the launch of the Sun Corridor website in 2009, CAREDF has
experienced a substantial increase in site visits. Visits have increased by more than 1,463% over
previous years numbers.
CurrentCAREDFclientsthatareindirectrelationwithMaricopa:
UniversityofArizonaAgriculturalResearchCenter: CAREDF is working together with the U of A
Agricultural Research Center to develop a targeted industries list of biotech companies. This list
will be shared with the City of Maricopa to target the biotech industry.

NexteerAutomotive: Nexteer has rented a 9,000 sq ft facility in western Casa Grande on Highway
84 that provides testing support services to automotive testing grounds in Maricopa. This provides
support for the creation of new job opportunities for Maricopa residents.
ClusterStudySupport:Providing strategic insights to cluster analysis consultant for Maricopa.
CurrentCAREDFclientsthatareindirectrelationwithMaricopaContinued:
Ak-ChinIndianCommunity: CAREDF is assisting AkChin in the design and marketing of an
industrial park and their newly acquired airpark. In addition CAREDF is collecting demographic
material from AkChin and will post the information on the CAREDF website to be included with the
City of Maricopa information.
MaglevTechnologiesInc.: Maglev Technologies is a large scale wind generation company that is
working with Phoenix Technology Works, a business located in Maricopa. The Maglev WindTurbine for commercial energy production was designed to generate electricity from wind power
with a new standard of efficiency. Potential proposal for the manufacture of blades to be performed
by a company located at the Phoenix Regional Airport located in Maricopa.
PhoenixTechnology
Works:
Phoenix Technology Works has the blade design contract for Maglev
Technologies Wind Turbine project. CAREDF has conducted numerous meetings with Phoenix
Technology Works in reference to assisting them with financing, expansion of facilities and meeting
with new aerospace clients.
Monsanto: Monsanto is a Fortune 500 company. They are a global company headquartered out of
St. Louis. Monsanto has acquired the Pepsi building in Casa Grande; the newly acquired facility will
be for research and development in the biotech industry. Monsanto also acquired the Delta Pine
and Land Company in Eloy in 2009 where they manufacture cotton seed. Both sites will provide
support to the University of Arizona Agriculture Center located in Maricopa. Monsanto presently
has a total of 50 employees in Pinal County with plans for future growth.
Solargeneration: CAREDF has worked with numerous solar generation companies that are
looking to expand or relocate in western Pinal County.
InformationCenter:Working with an information services company, call center, to expand in
Maricopa.
CurrentCAREDFprojectsthatwill/couldaffecttheCityofMaricopa:
CountywideAssetInventory: CAREDF is managing the development of a countywide (economic
development) asset inventory which will be used to assist existing and new industries in their
expansion and relocation efforts.

Financing
(TIF)
Research: Under the advisement of Maricopa City Manager, Kevin
Evans, CAREDF staff has researched Tax Increment Financing (TIF) via examining other states with
existing programs. The CAREDF Board of Directors is currently evaluating the research provided.
DepartmentofCommerceCommerceontheRoad: CAREDF facilitated numerous meetings
involving the Arizona Department of Commerce (ADOC) and CAREDF public partners. The initial
visit allowed for public partners to showcase their community, build a relationship with the ADOC
and communicate their needs for development.
