Career Fair is one of the biggest annual events in Engineering Campus of UniversitiSains Malaysia, yet this event is a platform for the students either in Universiti Sains

Malaysia or other universities to plan their future career path prior to their graduation.The main purpose of the Career Fair is to provide employers and university graduates an

opportunity to meet and explore the opportunities of jobs, internships and research

collaborations.

I am glad to see that Career Fair in Engineering Campus is improving and growingbigger year by year and this is the 10th year anniversary for Career Fair USM

Engineering Campus. In order to survive in such a competitive world, fresh graduates

are required to obtain an excellent academic achievement, soft skills, personalappearance and self-disciplines. The university is working hard to nurture intelligentstudents with good leadership skills, to meet the requirements in the career world. It is

important to keep Career Fair going on for the students’ future and also to maintain a

INTRODUCTION

The CAREER FAIR is an annual event organised by the Student Development Affairs & Alumni Division to be the platform for ourundergraduates and industry players to converge for career awareness, internship placements and employability. Every year, the CareerFair is participated by both local and overseas companies ranging from small companies to large multi-national companies (MNCs).

The Career Fair is mainly organised to prepare undergraduates for the working world by providing them early and various careeropportunities to ensure that job security is high on the list or priorities of our undergraduates who will soon embark in their career.

The Career fair is a key stepping stone for our undergraduates to market themselves and secure their employability, hence paving the wayfor their brighter future as well for the development of the country.

CAREER FAIR 2016 focuses on how we can enhance our Career Fair to be a more effective recruitment medium in helping ourfuture graduates to secure their future. In line with one of the key enables of the APEX Phase 2, which is ‘Developing and EmpoweringTalent’, we are widening our scopes to see how we can make our undergraduates more marketable and more relevant to the industry as

a whole. Through analytics on the current industry requirements in the job market, we want to nurture our undergraduates through talentdevelopment programs for them to match those requirements, making them the best graduates USM has to offer while simultaneouslysupplying the industry players with a pool of highly skilled and industry-relevant human capital.

Improve the effectiveness of the Career Fair in terms ofincreasing the employability rate of USM engineeringundergraduates for both internships and job placements.

Empower committee members with invaluable soft skills in thefield of management, entrepreneurship, and leadership througha unique hands-on experience that give them an extra edgewhen coupled with their academic engineering background.

Prepare our undergraduates to become dynamic, industry-readygraduates that must meet the requirements of their prospectiveemployers.

Simultaneously provide companies with a large number ofqualified, technical employee candidates and to providestudents with employment opportunities.

Foster fruitful partnerships and networking with industry playersthat will benefit both the university and the industry now and alsofar into the future.

polish their soft skills especially on the Programme Outcomes (PO) that would help the

students to be more employable in the appropriate economic sector.

our engineering programmes. Not only that USM is the only APEX university, many of our
