NEW STUDENT ACCOMMODATION – BURWOOD

IMPORTANT ACCOMMODATION UPDATES

We are building a new student residence at the Melbourne Burwood Campus that will provide an additional 575 beds from Trimester 1, 2017 to help meet increasing demand. This will increase the number of available beds at Burwood to almost 1200.

This new facility will provide new apartment configurations, including 2, 4 and 6-bedroom apartments. Each apartment will feature private bedrooms and study spaces, with a shared kitchen, bathroom and lounge. Full Wi-Fi coverage will be available throughout the complex.

Features include:

• a safe and secure environment, including 24-hour staff support

• sustainability elements including rooftop solar panels, and landscaped outdoor entertainment area with barbeque, seating and lights

• a central common area with lounge and kitchen/dining zones and an open plan recreation space with flexible furniture and a games area

• various study rooms equipped with modern technology• laundrette with washing machines and dryer.

Applications for Trimester 1, 2017 will open 1 August 2016 and students can apply online at deakin.edu.au/residences

• Students are no longer required to include personal information as part of their application. Successful applications will be based on distance from campus, timely submissions and length of lease.

• Application fees are no longer required.

This is your international students’ chance to ensure they are fully informed about their options at Deakin.

Come and explore all things STEM at Open Day!The faculty has plenty of things for attendees to explore, experience and interact with across all the campuses this year.At the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, our marine biology vessel ‘Yolla’ will be on display to celebrate marine biology being offered at Waurn Ponds from 2017. Also take the opportunity to explore our new engineering facilities including the Virtual Reality cave and High Voltage Lab in CADET, and visit our Crime Scene House if you’re interested in forensic science.

Our architecture and construction management facilities at the Geelong Waterfront Campus have recently been expanded and refurbished, and will be on display all day.

At the Melbourne Burwood Campus, you can interact with all things IT and science. Be sure to check out our NAO humanoid robots in action in Building T at 10 am, 12 pm and 1.30 pm.

EPWORTH HOSPITAL OPENS!The Epworth Hospital, located on the edge of the Deakin Waurn Ponds Campus opened its doors for the first time on Monday 4 July. Deakin University’s partnership with Epworth Healthcare provides opportunities across a variety of acute and sub-acute health care settings.
