Entrepreneurship- the dream of many but manifested into real-ity by lucky few, who muster up that courage

and heart to actually make it into reality. Many of us have those “oh so great” and amazing ideas but lack that courage, that final push and last dose of “inspiration.”

The hectic daily routines and heavy workload on students have left them indifferent, ignorant of the perks of living the life of an entrepreneur. In the light of all the motivation draining processes, BEST PRACTICES-FAST Busi-ness Club took the initiative of arranging a motivational session aimed to provide students with insights about “Journeys of young Serial Entrepreneurs”, giving them a chance to interact with the ones they idealize.

Young, accomplished individuals; Shaan Lashari, Omair Bangash and Rj Sophie gave an insight on how their lives evolved around the golden temple of entrepreneur-ship. Each one of these speakers had their own stories of struggle

to share, and in their own different style, took the students on a ride to the corporate world. Where on one hand Omair Bangash inspired with a touch of corporate humor, Shaan Lashari quoted real life in-cidents from the actual workplace. RJ Sophie brought out the young entrepreneurs out of the FASTians by an on spot activity to come up with a business idea and reflect upon how to make it happen.

Statements like “ Good is not good enough because it stops you from becoming great!” and “You’re ei-ther worthless or priceless!” were repeated throughout the session the whole time, fuelling the en-trepreneurial flair even more. The giveaways at the end of the session turned out to be the cherry on the cake for all the winners of the mini-contests and activities. It’s safe to say that aspiring entrepre-neurs left the auditorium once the session ended.

The Right to Information Baithak was organised by the Beaconhouse National Uni-versity at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan audi-

torium. Prof. Sajjad Kausar, Prof. Naazish Ata Ullah and Prof. Asghar Nadeem Syed were part of 8th RTI Baithak at BNU. The speakers called upon educational institu-tions and groups advocating transparen-cy to take the lead in raising awareness regarding the Right To Information Act. Speakers discussed the RTI’s implications for minorities in the country. Wajahat Masood, an instructor at the School of Media and Mass Communica-tion at BNU and moderator for the ses-sion, said there was a lack of sensitisation regarding issues pertaining to minorities. He said the system had been structured in a way so as to maintain anonymity. A lack

of understanding and empathy by the society, made it worse, he said. “Liberalism isn’t defined by what you eat, drink or wear. It is what you think. Unfortunately, we fail to understand the difference.”Former National Commission for Justice and Peace Director Peter Jacob said issues pertaining to religious discrimination affected minorities on a daily basis. He said he hoped that the RTI Act and the Punjab Information Commission could help address issues of dispar-ity for minorities.Saad Malik, a lecturer at BNU’s School of Computer and IT, said it was also important to work on the delivery of information in a lan-guage free of jargon which allowed citizens to understand them.
