The Carnival programme of events! Celebrating Carrick on Shannon 400TRANSCRIPT

Programme of Events

CHAIRMAN’S ADDRESSOne of the highlights of the Carrick 400 celebrations will no doubt be the Carrick Carnival 400. For ten days and nights the town will come alive to a celebration of events and displays that will entertain and amuse those living in, around and visiting our county town.
From the good old reliables like the Phil the Fluter’s Fancy Dress Ball, the Fireworks Display and Rock at the Clock to the bizarre events like the Raft Race, Stand-up Paddling and Water Long Jump! We even have a world record attempt in the line up!
I think you will agree it is a most ambitious programme of events that is fitting for our 400 year charter. Yet none of it would have been possible without our dedicated committee who gave up their time and effort for ‘free’; meeting week in week out since July 2012 to bring the Carnival to this completed stage.
Also our Chief Marshall and the countless number of volunteers that are needed to help the committee make all the events and our town a safe place for you and your family to enjoy. So a big ‘thanks a million’ to you all!
A word of thanks to An Garda Síochána, Leitrim County Council and the Chamber of Commerce who did everything in their power to assist the committee and made every resource available so that it could be done! Thank you!
And of course our Sponsors! You know who you are. You have made all of this possible. Your generous support be it financial or otherwise has made this mainly a FREE festival for everyone! Your commitment enables us to provide something for everyone and has brought some of the best street theatre, entertainment and performers in Ireland to Carrick on Shannon. So go on, come on out and have a look, enjoy and taste all that Carrick Carnival 400 has to offer....................................................................
