Thank you for enquiring about holding your wedding at Carrick Hill.

Countless couples have declared their love in front of friends and family overlooking the city and out to the coast against the back drop of Australia’s most intact twentieth-century heritage house, Carrick Hill. This has been possible thanks to the generosity of Sir Edward Hayward and his wife Ursula, who bequeathed the property to the people of South Australia.

Wedding Ceremonies

• The Elms – Pleached Pear Arbour & Terrace overlooking St Vincent Gulf• Cypress Pines – Cypress Walkway & Terraced Lawns overlooking the ponds

Wedding Ceremonies are held between Wednesday and Sunday and Public Holidays 10.00am and 4.00pm

Carrick Hill has two designated areas* in the garden available for wedding ceremonies:

Inclusions• Reserved site• Choice of garden area (noted above)• 4 teak benches• Marble top table & two chairs for signing• Chairs for musicians (if required)• Power cable (refundable deposit required)• Wedding rehearsal (bookings essential)• Directional signage for guests• Car parking on site

Pricing• $670 for two hours in one garden area.

Time period includes all set up, ceremony & photographs (by client’s own photographer)

• $160 per hour or part there of for additional hours in the garden. (must conclude at 4pm)

• $1340 to book both garden areas for two hours to ensure your ceremony is the only one on the grounds during your booking time.

Carrick Hill is a 1930’s home built in the English Manor style that has breathtaking views of Adelaide and the sea beyond.

Terms & ConditionsCarrick Hill is administered by the Carrick Hill Trust Board, which is appointed by the South Australian Government. It is the responsibility

of the client to ensure that the following terms and conditions are adhered to before, during and after each function.

1. General

• Carrick Hill is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday & Public Holidays 10am – 4.30pm

• The duration time of functions booked must be strictly adhered to.• The client is responsible for controlling the behaviour of their guests.• The interior and exterior of Carrick Hill House, Marquee and Garden

Landscaping is subject to change without notice.• Carrick Hill Trust regulations are applicable to all visitors to this site.

2. Hire FeesCarrick Hill reserves the right to increase Hire Fees without prior notice. Fully paid clients will be protected at their booked rate.

3. Tentative BookingsTentative bookings will be held for 14 days. Payment of the Venue Hire fee is required to confirm your booking. Tentative bookings not confirmed after 14 days will be cancelled.

4. Confirmation of BookingsA signed copy of the Carrick Hill Venue Hire Terms and Conditions along with full payment of the Venue Hire fee is required to confirm your booking. Please forward to Carrick Hill, 46 Carrick Hill Drive, Springfield SA 5062. Telephone: (08) 8433 1700

5. PaymentPayments can be made at Carrick Hill:• Visit Carrick Hill to pay Cash, Cheque or Credit Card, Wednesday to

Sunday & Public Holidays between 10.00am – 4.30pm. • Credit Card payments can also be made by telephone on (08) 8433

1700 any day.• Cheques should be made payable to Carrick Hill, and sent to Carrick

Hill, 46 Carrick Hill Drive, Springfield SA 5062.

6. Cancellations must be in writing Cancellation of a booking received up to 90 days prior to the nominated function date – 50% of the Venue Hire Fee paid will be refunded.There is a $50 Administration Fee for a cancellation.Note: No refund will be made for a cancellation of a booking received within 90 days of the nominated function date.

7. Garden Ceremony (e.g. Wedding, Funeral)

Carrick Hill has two Wedding Ceremony sites available. They are the ‘Cypress Pines’ area and ‘The Elms’ area. Other areas are available by negotiation, fees upon application.

If your function includes a wedding ceremony there is an option to book the gardens prior to 5.00pm, depending on availability. Bookings are for a two hour minimum. It is possible that the Elms and Cypress Pines areas could have ceremonies booked simultaneously during public hours.

The furniture will be located in the area you have selected ready for you to move to suit your requirements, members of the public or wedding guests may at times rearrange benches etc prior to your booked event.

In the event of continuous inclement weather on the day of the ceremony the supervising house attendant will make the decision ten minutes before the ceremony, whether it is possible to bring the Wedding Ceremony into the House, giving due consideration to other visitors to Carrick Hill. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL BE POSSIBLE.

Should your Garden Wedding Ceremony be brought into the House due to inclement weather it will be for the Wedding Ceremony only and the Wedding Party and guests must leave the House immediately following the ceremony so that visitors to the House are not inconvenienced. As food and drinks are not permitted inside the House during public hours, alternative arrangements will need to be made with The Food Business for any prearranged catering.

Function Bookings from 5.00pmBridal Party & Guests arrival and Set-up time is inclusive from 5.00pm. We would suggest that your wedding ceremony commence half an hour from the start of your booking time.

8. Hire Equipment / Chairs for Ceremonies

Please advise Carrick Hill of any equipment being brought in for receptions. Arrangements will need to be made with Carrick Hill for deliveries of flowers etc. It is the responsibility of the client to set up and pack up chairs or any other equipment brought into the site at the completion of the booking. Chairs hired from Carrick Hill will be left for collection outside the House behind the Security Office for The Elms and along the western wall for the Cypress Pines. The chairs will need to be packed up and returned to these areas at the completion of your booking.

9. Wedding Rehearsal / Site visitWedding Rehearsals and/or site visits are inclusive of your hire fee and can be made by arrangement with Carrick Hill staff. Times for rehearsal bookings are available during Carrick Hill’s public hours – depending on the use of the garden site at the time of the intended booking. There are No rehearsals permitted inside the House.

10. Care of the House, Gardens and GroundsBreakages and damage will be charged accordingly.Smoking is prohibited within the House and the Marquee. Smoking is permitted in the designated area. Please consult your coordinator for further details.The lighting of candles in the House and marquee is also prohibited due to the sensitive fire detection system.Paper confetti and rice are not permitted – only rose petals or bubbles may be used in the grounds. Empty bubble containers must be placed in the rubbish bins provided.

HouseCarrick Hill is fortunate in being one of the few period homes in Australia to survive with its original contents almost completely intact and its grounds undiminished. As there are many valuable and irreplaceable items on display inside the house we ask that clients using the House for functions take care not to cause any damage to the House or its contents. Carrick Hill requests that guests attending a function not touch or place items on the furniture.Dancing is not permitted in the House. Any breakages and damage will be charged accordingly.

PricingPrices for food and beverage, schedule of catering payments and confirmation of guest numbers will be negotiated between the client and The Food Business.Self-catering food and beverage is not permitted on the site of Carrick Hill for consumption at the function by the client or any of the client’s guests, invitees or persons attending the function.

EntertainmentThe Food Business representatives reserve the right to control sound levels of any live entertainment or amplified music at your function.Access times for set up and sound checks will be advised by the venue or function manager.

NoiseAll amplified entertainment is to be governed through the Carrick Hill sound system which complies with the environmental protection authority noise control requirements.If a band or DJ has not previously played at Carrick Hill they should check with a representative from The Food Business for the connections needed to plug into the sound system. Inspections can be arranged.

General conductThe client is responsible for the orderly manner and behavior of all guests, attendees or personnel associated with the client and their function.Any guest deemed to be creating an unduly disturbance, annoyance or inconvenience to other patrons or staff, at any time prior to, during or after the event will be asked to leave from the premises immediately.

Liquor licenseThe Food Business is a responsible server of alcohol and is bound by conditions of the venue, the Liquor license, the liquor industry code of practice and the SA Liquor Act. The Food Business reserves the right to refuse service to any guest. It is a condition of the license that all entertainment and alcohol service cease at 11.30pm Mon – Sat and 11.00pm on Sundays and public holidays.

11. Parking of VehiclesWedding and function guests should enter via the main gate at 46 Carrick Hill Drive, Springfield and park in the main car park.

Disabled parking is available through the service entrance (see below).

12. Access via service entranceOnly limited access is available through the service entrance at 5 Meadowvale Road, Springfield. This entrance is closed and the intercom at the gate must be used to contact staff to allow access.The service entrance is only to be used by:

• Visitors and guests with disabilities• Wedding party & parents of bride and groom for wedding ceremonies

in the Elms area and functions in the marquee• Wedding celebrant and musicians (for Elms area & marquee)• Delivery and pick up by suppliers

13. Special Access for Wedding Ceremonies

Arrival and/or departure by Horse & CartAdvise Carrick Hill, telephone (08) 8433 1700, at least one month prior to date of Wedding Ceremony so that bollards can be removed to allow access to the wedding area on the day.

Note: Under NO circumstances can the bollards be removed to allow wedding cars or any other motorised vehicles to drive closer to the House.

14. Public AreasCarrick Hill grounds are open to the public from 10.00am – 4.30pm Wed. – Sun. and Public holidays. Exclusive use of the gardens and grounds is not possible during these hours. No inconvenience shall be permitted to other visitors to Carrick Hill.

The Carrick Hill is open to the public from 10.00am – 4.30pm Wed. –Sun. and Public holidays. The House cannot be booked for ceremonies, receptions or other functions during these times or before 5.00pm on any of these days.

15. PhotographyIt is the responsibility of the client to ensure their photographers are aware of the booking times and these times are strictly adhered to. Photographs can be taken anywhere in the grounds provided that there is not another booking in the area. No inconvenience to other visitors shall be permitted. Photographs may only be taken in the House (on the staircase only) if a House/Garden/Marquee Package is booked.Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, commonly known as Drones, are not permitted to be flown on Carrick Hill property.

16. Contingency

Extreme emergencyIn the unlikely event that Carrick Hill is unable to meet the terms of an event booking, due to the site being shut down because of an extreme emergency, Carrick Hill reserves the right to cancel the event booking and refund the Venue Hire fee paid.Restoration Work at Carrick HillCarrick Hill is a historic site and of necessity from time to time requires restoration and maintenance work. This work will usually be carried out during the closure of the site in July each year, however some work may not be possible during this time. Normal operations and events will continue in the House and grounds during these times as much as possible. Intended wedding and other parties need to be aware that from time to time Carrick Hill may have scaffolding, hoardings and other structures erected for safety purposes, both inside and outside the building.
