Important informationBefore you use your car audio systemfor the first time, please take the time toread the instruction manual carefullyand make yourself familiar with the au-dio equipment. Keep this manual handyin your car for future reference.

Traffic safety Traffic safety is always the top

priority. Do not attempt to operateyour car audio system unless the traf-fic conditions permit. Familiarizeyourself with the equipment beforeyou start driving.Always make sure that you are stillable to hear any warning signalscoming from outside the vehicle,such as police or fire engine sirens,at all times.As a result, please always select amoderate volume for playing your caraudio system while you are driving.

InstallationIf you would like to install your new carstereo yourself or add other audio com-ponents to the existing ones, thenplease read the instructions on installa-tion and connection at the end of thismanual carefully.

AccessoriesUse only Blaupunkt-approved accesso-ries.

Remote control unitThe optionally available RC 08 infraredremote control unit allows you to con-veniently operate the most important

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONsystem functions from the steeringwheel.

AmplifiersAll Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used.

CD changersThe following CD changers can be con-nected directly: CDC A 06, CDC A 08,CDC A 072 and IDC A 09.The CDC A 05 and CDC A 071 can beconnected with an adapter cable (Blau-punkt no. 7 607 889 093).

REMOVABLE FRONT PANEL

Removable front panel

Theft protection systemTo prevent your car audio system frombeing stolen, it has been equipped witha removable front panel (flip releasepanel). Without the front panel, the caraudio system is useless to thieves.Protect your car audio system againsttheft and take the operating panel withyou each time you leave the vehicle.Never leave the release panel in the car,even if it is well hidden. The panel hasbeen designed so that it is easy to re-move.

Notes:● Do not drop the release panel.

● Do not expose the release panel todirect sunlight or other heat sourc-es.

● Store the release panel in the casesupplied.

Removing the operating panel➮ Press 1.

The release panel will unlock.

➮ First pull the operating panel for-ward and then slide it to the left toremove it.

● When you remove the operatingpanel, the car audio system will au-tomatically switch off.

● All of the settings will remainstored.

● A CD inserted into the car audiosystem will remain in place.

Replacing the operating panel➮ Slide the operating panel into the

guides from left to right.

➮ Press the left-hand side of the pan-el onto the car audio system until itlocks into place.

Note:● While replacing the panel, be care-

ful not to press on the display.If the car audio system was on whenyou removed the panel, it will automat-ically switch back on using the same set-tings when you replace it (radio, CDplayer or CD changer).

Switching the car audiosystem on/offThe car audio system can be switchedon/off in a number of ways.

Switching the car audio system on/off with the ignitionIf the car audio system has been con-nected to your vehicle ignition, it is pos-sible to switch it on and off with the igni-tion.You can also switch the car audio sys-tem on when the ignition is switched off.

➮ Press down and hold 3 until thecar audio system switches on.

Note:To prevent the car battery from runningdown, the radio will switch off again au-tomatically after one hour.

Switching the car audio system on/off with the removable front panel

➮ Remove the release panel.

The car audio system will switch off.

➮ Replace the release panel.

The car audio system will switch onagain. The last settings used (radio, CDplayer or CD changer) will be activated.

Switching the car audio system on/off by pressing 3

➮ Press 3 to switch the car audiosystem on.

➮ Press 3 for longer than 2 secondsto switch the car audio system offagain.

The system will then switch off.

Switching the car audio system onby inserting a CDIf the system is switched off and thereis no CD in the CD player,

➮ press 9.

The flip release panel will open.

➮ Insert the CD into the CD playerwith the label facing up until youfeel slight resistance. Do not useforce.

The CD will be pulled automatically intothe CD player.Do not attempt to assist or prevent thisprocess.

➮ Press the operating panel closedgently until you feel it click intoplace.

The audio system will switch on. CDplayback will begin.

Volume controlThe car audio system volume can beadjusted to levels from 0 (off) to 66 (max-imum).

➮ To increase the volume, turn thevolume control knob 2 to theright.

➮ To decrease the volume, turn thevolume control knob 2 to the left.

Adjusting the power-on volumeIt is possible to adjust the volume atwhich the car audio system switches on.

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “ONVOLUME” appears in the display.

➮ Press : to adjust the vol-ume.

If you adjust this setting to “0”, the caraudio system will switch on at the vol-ume used before it was switched off.

Warning of serious injuryIf the power-on volume is set to themaximum level, it may be extremelyloud when the car audio system isswitched on.If the power-on volume is set to 0 andthe car audio system was played atmaximum volume before it wasswitched off, it may be extremely loudwhen the car audio system isswitched back on. This could resultin serious injury to your ears!

➮ Once you have selected the de-sired settings, press MENU 8 orOK ;.

MuteYou can reduce the volume of the caraudio system immediately (mute).

➮ Press 3 briefly.

“MUTE” will appear in the display.

Selecting the mute levelIt is possible to select the mute level.

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “MUTELEVEL” appears in the display.

➮ Press : to select the mutelevel.

➮ Once you have made your selec-tion, press MENU 8 or OK ;.

Telephone audio/NavigationaudioIf your car audio system is equipped witha mobile telephone or a navigation sys-tem, it will automatically switch to mutewhen you use the phone or when voiceoutput from the navigation system isemitted. The car speakers will then beused for the phone call or the voice out-put. This will not work unless the mo-bile phone or the navigation system isconnected to the car audio system asdescribed in the installation instructions.To find out which navigation systemscan be used with your car radio, con-tact a Blaupunkt specialist dealer.The volume at which phone calls ornavigation voice output are heard canbe adjusted.

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “TEL/NAVI VOL” appears in the display.

Speed-dependent volumeadjustmentThis function automatically adjusts thevolume to your driving speed. For thisto function properly, your car radio mustbe connected as described in the instal-lation instructions.The automatic volume adjustment canbe set to six levels (0 to 5).

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “AUTOSOUND” appears in the display.

➮ Press : to select the desiredvolume adjustment.

➮ Once you have made your selec-tion, press MENU 8 or OK ;.

Note:The best setting for the speed-depend-ent volume adjustment depends on howmuch driving noise you experience inyour vehicle. Use a process of trial anderror to find the best setting for yourvehicle.

Adjusting the volume of thebeepFor a number of functions you will heara beep if you press a key for longer than2 seconds, e.g. if you want to store aradio station on a station preset. You canadjust the volume level of this beep.

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until“BEEP” appears in the display.

➮ Press : to adjust the volume.“0” means the beep volume is off,“9” means the beep volume is ad-justed to the maximum volume.

➮ Once you have adjusted the set-tings, press MENU 8 or OK ;.

Radio operation

Switching to the radio modeIf you are currently using the CD playeror CD changer,

➮ press CD•C @ repeatedly until“RADIO” appears in the display.

RDS functionThis car audio system has beenequipped with an RDS radio receiver.Many FM radio stations now transmit asignal which contains such other infor-mation as the station name along withtheir regular programming. As soon asthe radio station name is detected, it willappear in the display. The RDS func-tion can be switched on or off.

Switching the RDS function on/off

➮ To take advantage of the RDSfunction, press RDS 4.

When the RDS function has been acti-vated, the RDS symbol will light up inthe display.

Selecting the waveband/memory bankThe car audio system is able to receiveFM and AM radio programs. There arethree memory banks for the FM wave-band and one memory bank for the AMwaveband.Up to six radio stations can be storedon each of the memory banks.

➮ To switch between the FM memorybanks, press FM / TS 5.

➮ To select the AM waveband, pressAM ?.

Tuning into radio stationsYou can tune into radio stations in anumber of different ways.

Automatic seek tuning

➮ Press or :.

The radio will tune into the next availa-ble station within reception range.

Manual station selectionYou can also tune into radio stationsmanually.

➮ Press or :.

Note:You cannot use manual tuning unlessthe RDS function is deactivated.

Paging through the broadcastingnetwork (for FM only)If a radio broadcasting network hasmore than one station, you can pagethrough the “station network”.

➮ Press or : to tune into thenext station in the network.

Note:To take advantage of this function, youmust have activated the RDS function.

It is only possible to tune into those sta-tions which have been received oncebefore already. To do this, use the SCANor TravelStore function.

Adjusting seek tuning sensitivityIt is possible to adjust the sensitivity ofthe seek tuning function to tune the ra-dio into stations with strong receptionsignals only, or to those with weakerreception signals as well.

The currently selected setting will ap-pear in the display. “SENS HI” indicatesthe highest level of sensitivity, “SENSLO” the lowest. If you select “SENS LO”,“lo” will light up in the display.

➮ Press : to select the desiredsensitivity.

➮ Once you have made your selec-tion, press MENU 8 or OK ;.

Storing radio stations

Storing radio stations manually

➮ Select the desired FM memorybank FM1, FM2, FMT or the AMwaveband.

➮ Tune the radio into the desired sta-tion.

➮ Press and hold down one of thestation preset buttons 1 to 6 > onwhich you want to store the radiostation for longer than two seconds.

Storing radio stationsautomatically (TravelStore)You can automatically store the six ra-dio stations with the strongest receptionin your current reception area (for FMonly). These stations will be stored inthe FMT memory bank.

Note:Any stations stored previously in thememory bank will be deleted.

➮ Press and hold down FM / TS 5for longer than two seconds.

The storing process will begin.“TRAVEL-STORE” will appear in thedisplay. After the stations have beenstored, the radio will automatically be-gin to play the station stored on presetbutton 1 for the FMT memory bank.

Recalling stored radio stations➮ Select the desired station memory

bank.

➮ Press the station button 1 to 6 >on which you have stored the de-sired radio station.

Scanning the radio stationswithin reception range (SCAN)You can scan all of the radio stationscurrently within your reception range.The scan time can be set in the menuto play from five to 30 seconds.

Starting SCAN

➮ Press and hold down OK ; forlonger than two seconds.

SCAN will begin. “SCAN” will appearbriefly in the display, followed by theflashing station name or frequency ofthe radio station currently beingscanned.

Stopping the SCAN function,continuing to listen to the radiostation scanned

➮ Press OK ;.

SCAN will end and the last stationscanned will continue playing.

Note:The scan time selected also applies tothe SCAN function for theCD player andthe CD changer operation.

Optimising radio reception

Interference-related treble cut(HICUT)The HICUT function improves receptionwhen reception begins to deteriorate. Ifinterference occurs, then the treble andthe noise is cut automatically.

Switching HICUT on/off

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “HI-CUT” appears in the display.

➮ Press or : to switch HICUTon or off.

“HICUT 0” indicates that the function isswitched off; when “HICUT 3” appears,the treble will be automatically cut asfar as possible.

➮ Press MENU 8 or OK ;.

RADIO OPERATION

Interference-dependent bandwidthswitching (SHARX)The SHARX function allows you to vir-tually eliminate interference from neigh-bouring radio stations. When you are ina reception area with a large number ofradio station signals, switch the SHARXfunction on.

Switching SHARX on/off

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until“SHARX” appears in the display.

➮ Press or : to switch SHARXon or off.

“SHARX OFF” means no bandwidthswitching, “SHARX ON” means auto-matic bandwidth switching.

➮ Press MENU 8 or OK ;.

Selecting the display of variabletextA number of radio stations use the RDSsignal to transmit advertising or othertexts in place of their station names.These “variable texts” will appear in thedisplay. It is possible to adjust your ra-dio so that these “variable texts” do notappear.

➮ Press and hold down RDS 4 until“NAME FIX” appears in the display.

➮ To have the “variable texts” dis-played again, press and hold downRDS 4 until “NAME VAR” appearsin the display.

Adjusting the tunerThis car audio system has beenequipped with a multiband tuner. Thetuner can be adjusted to accommodatecountry-specific requirements. Theavailable regions are: America, Europe,Asia and Thailand. The tuner is not fullyfunctional unless it has been set to thecountry in which it is used.

Adjusting the tuner

➮ Press MENU 8.

➮ Press : repeatedly until “FMTUNER” appears in the display.

➮ Press : to select the country.

➮ Once you have completed the set-ting, press MENU 8 or OK ;.

CD player operationThe CD player in this car audio systemcan be used to play conventional mu-sic CDs with a diameter of 12 cm.

Danger of damage to the CDplayer!CD singles with a diameter of 8 cmand contour CDs (shape CDs) arenot suitable for use with this CD play-er.We assume no liability for any dam-age done to the CD player resultingfrom the use of unsuitable CDs.

Starting CD player operation● If there is no CD in the player,

➮ press 9.

The flip release panel will open.

➮ Insert a CD into the player with thelabel facing up until you feel slightresistance. Do not use force.

The CD will be pulled into the playerautomatically.Do not attempt to assist or prevent thisprocess.

➮ Press the operating panel closedgently until you feel it click intoplace.

The audio system will switch on. CDplayback will begin.

● If there already is a CD insertedinto the player,

➮ press CD•C @ repeatedly until“CD” appears in the display.

Playback will resume at the point whereit was interrupted.

Stopping the SCAN function,continue listening to the currenttrack

➮ To stop the SCAN function, pressOK ;.

The track currently scanned will contin-ue playing.

Repeating individual tracks(REPEAT)➮ To repeat the track currently play-

ing, press 4 RPT >.

“REPEAT TRCK” will appear in the dis-play, the RPT symbol will light up. Thetrack will continue to repeat until RPT isdeactivated.

Stopping the REPEAT function

➮ If you want to stop the REPEATfunction, press 4 RPT > again.

“REPEAT OFF” will appear briefly in thedisplay, the RPT symbol will no longerlight up. CD playback will resume nor-mally.

Interrupting playback (PAUSE)➮ Press 3 >.

“PAUSE” will appear in the display.

Stopping PAUSE

➮ Press 3 > during the pause.

Playback will resume.

Selecting tracks➮ Press a key on the cursor block :

to select the next or the previoustrack.

Press or : once to restart thesame track.

Audible fast forward/reverse(CUE/REVIEW)To start Cue or Review,

➮ press and hold down either or : until the process begins.

Playing tracks in random order(MIX)➮ Press 5 MIX >.

“MIX CD” will appear briefly in the dis-play, the MIX symbol will light up in thedisplay. The next track played will beselected at random.

Stopping the MIX function

➮ Press 5 MIX > again.

“MIX OFF” will appear briefly in the dis-play and the MIX symbol will no longerlight up.

Scanning tracks (SCAN)You can scan all of the tracks on theCD.

➮ Press OK ; for longer than twoseconds. Scanning will begin withthe next track.

Note:It is possible to adjust the scan time. Formore information, read the section on“Adjusting the scan time” in the chapteron “Radio Operation”.

CD changer operation

Note:For information on how to handle CDs,how to insert CDs into the changer andhow to operate the changer, please re-fer to the instructions included with theCD changer.

Starting CD changer operation➮ Press CD•C @ repeatedly until

“CHANGER” appears in the dis-play.

Playback will begin with the first CD thechanger detects in the magazine.

Selecting CDs➮ To select a CD up or down in the

magazine, press or : therequired number of times.

Selecting tracks➮ To select a different track on the

CD currently playing, press or : the required number of times.

Audible fast forward/reverse(CUE/REVIEW)To start Cue or Review,

➮ press and hold down either or : until the process begins.

Switching the display mode➮ To switch the display between the

track number and elapsed playingtime or the track number and time,or track number and CD number ortrack number and CD name, press

/ DIS 7 for longer than twoseconds once or repeatedly as re-

quired, until the desired informationappears in the display.

Repeating individual tracks orentire CDs (REPEAT)➮ To repeat the track currently play-

ing, press 4 RPT > briefly.

“REPEAT TRCK” will appear briefly inthe display, RPT will light up in the dis-play.

➮ To repeat the entire CD currentlyplaying, press 4 RPT > again.

“REPEAT DISC” will appear briefly in thedisplay, RPT will light up in the display.

Stopping the REPEAT function

➮ To stop the REPEAT function forthe current track or CD, press4 RPT > repeatedly until“REPEAT OFF” appears in the dis-play and RPT no longer lights up.

Playing tracks in random order(MIX)➮ To play the tracks of the currently

selected CD in random order,press 5 MIX > briefly.

“MIX CD” will appear briefly in the dis-play, MIX will light up in the display.

➮ To play the tracks of all of the CDsin random order, press 5 MIX >again.

“MIX ALL” will appear briefly in the dis-play, MIX will light up in the display.

the CDs in ascending order, pressOK ; for longer than two sec-onds.

“SCAN” will appear in the display.

Stopping the SCAN function

➮ To stop the SCAN function, pressOK ; briefly.

The track currently scanned will contin-ue playing.

Note:It is possible to adjust the scan time. Formore information, read the section on“Adjusting the scan time” in the chapteron “Radio Operation”.

Interrupting playback (PAUSE)➮ Press 3 >.

“PAUSE” will appear in the display.

Stopping PAUSE

Setting the time automatically

EqualizerThis car audio system is equipped witha parametric digital equalizer. In thiscase, parametric means that it is possi-ble to individually raise or lower one fre-quency (GAIN +10 to -20 dB) for eachof the five filters.The following filters are available:● SUB LOW EQ 32 to 50 Hz

● LOW EQ 63 to 250 Hz

● MID EQ 315 to 1250 Hz● MID/HIGH EQ 1600 to 6300 Hz

● HIGH EQ 8000 to 12500 Hz

These filters can be adjusted without theuse of measuring equipment. As a re-sult, it is possible to significantly influ-ence the in-vehicle acoustics.

Notes on making equalizersettingsWe recommend that you use a CD youare familiar with to make the settings.

Before you set the equaliser, set bass,treble, balance and fader to “0” and de-activate the Loudness function. Formore information on how to do this, re-fer to the section on “Tone and balance/fader”.

➮ Now listen to the CD you have se-lected.

➮ Evaluate the sound according toyour own personal preferences.

➮ Now refer to “Sound impression” inthe following table.

➮ Make the settings for the equalizeras described under “What to do”.

External audio sourcesIn addition to the CD changer it is alsopossible to connect another external au-dio source to the line output. Thesesources can include a portable CD play-er, MiniDisc player or MP3 player.If you have not connected a CD chang-er, it is possible to connect two externalaudio sources.You must activate the AUX output in themenu.If you would like to connect another ex-ternal audio source, you will require anadapter cable.
