Day Camp CostsTHRIVE Day Camp Registration Fee: The annual non-refundable
registration fee of $100 must accompany the registration form.
Current CCS families may pay at their campus office, by PayPal online,
or on their RenWeb account through PayNow. Note: Registration is not
complete until registration fee is paid, and all paperwork is submitted.Day Camp Weekly Fee: Includes all materials, snacks, camp T-shirt,
swimming and field trips.5 days per week: $175 per week4 days per week: $155 per week 3 days or less per week: $121 per week

Summer SwimmingSwimming at Stewart Heights (1st-8th grade) (Included in camp cost)
Swimming Schedule: Mondays for Tacoma and Frederickson camps and
Tuesdays for McAlder. A life jacket or a signed life jacket waiver will be
required for all students. (Life jackets are not provided by Thrive Summer
Camp.)
Wild Waves (Optional Add-on Program for 5th grade and up)
Wild Waves Program Fee: $50Wild Waves Discounted Season Pass (for registered day campers) $70
Campers entering 5th grade through 8th grade in the fall may add-on the
all-day Tuesday trip to Wild Waves. The $50 fee covers additional staff as
well as transportation costs from the McAlder campus. (Frederickson and
Tacoma campers adding-on Wild Waves must check-in/out at the McAlder
camp on Tuesdays).Wild Waves fee covers a maximum of 8 sessions (weather
permitting). Season passes are recommended and may be purchased through
CCS for $70 through a special CCS/Wild Waves promotion.

Billing/Payments
The first two weeks of camp will be billed and due by the first day of
camp. Beginning June 23, THRIVE Day Camp (full-day campers) will be
billed in advance for two-week intervals. A $12.50 fee will be charged if
payment is not received by the billing due date. Payment may be made
at the site or mailed to the District Office. See payment schedule online
for billing dates.
Schedule Changes (add, drop or withdrawal)
When registering, to ensure proper staffing and materials, you must
indicate the days your child will be present at camp. In the event that
you need to make changes to your child’s attendance schedule, ADD/
DROP forms are available in each camp office. A change fee may apply.
Changes must be made by noon on Fridays.
Add: Additional days may be added with Site Coordinator permission
only. Payment for additional days added after statements have been
mailed (check the Billing Cycle) must accompany a THRIVE 2014 ADD
form.
Drop: Scheduled days may be dropped at any time. Dropping a day (or
days) will result in a credit ONLY if the signed THRIVE 2014 DROP form is
received a minimum of one full week in advance of the day dropped.
Involuntary Withdrawal/Dismissal: Each THRIVE Site Coordinator
reserves the right to request withdrawal of any THRIVE Day Camp,
Enrichment Class or Leadership student whose conduct is deemed
undesirable or unsatisfactory. Failure to conform to camp standards of
behavior may result in immediate dismissal without refund.

(McAlder Campus only) For all Junior High students, camp includes exciting day camp activities and field trips, plus participation in leadership training activities that concentrate on positive reinforcement, mentoring, responsibility and trust. They also have the option to add the Tuesday Wild Waves trip (see details under “Summer Swimming” - page 4).The Junior Counselor Program:Registered McAlder Campus campers who are entering at least 7th
grade in the fall may apply for a limited number of positions as Junior Counselors. Junior Counselors will participate in all THRIVE Leadership activities in a leadership capacity, receive a 40% discount on their weekly summer camp tuition, and attend a special Junior Counselor party.Junior Counselors assist staff by organizing and participating in games, activities, arts and crafts, and field trips with the campers. They serve as Christian examples by demonstrating the 3R’s (respect, responsibility and positive relationships) towards campers, other JCs, and staff. To become a Junior Counselor: First, register for camp. Then, apply to be a Junior Counselor by emailing two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, and another from a pastor or youth pastor, to Kathi Renn (Puyallup Site Coordinator) at [email protected]. Registration for leadership does not automatically guarantee JC acceptance. Selection of Junior Counselors is based on availability, letters of recommendation, and personal interview during the first week of camp.

Boys’ Basketball Camp - $75
Emphasis on: Individual Offense, Team Offense, Ball Handling, Individual
& Team Defense, Speed and Agility. Camp includes a souvenir basketball,
T-shirt, fundamental focus, games, competitions, prizes and awards, and
interaction with special guest speakers and coaches. Camp Director:

Girls’ Basketball Camp - $75
This is a competitive basic skills camp in a fun-filled atmosphere.
Campers will learn all aspects of basketball, including team, individual,
offensive and defensive skills. Camp includes individual skills
competitions and team games. Coach: Bryan Peterson
3rd-8th Week 4 July 15, 16, 17, 18 CCJH/HS 9 a.m.-noon
CCHS Summer Cheer Clinic - $60
Cheerleaders will learn chants, a camp cheer and a short dance to
perform for their family and friends on the final day of the clinic (8/14).
They will also participate in cheer crafts while spending one-on-one
time with the CCHS Cheerleaders. Clinic Coach: Head Cascade Christian
High School Varsity Coach, Brittany Cleary. She cheered competitively
for four years, winning state and national titles. She then completed her
cheerleading career at Western Washington University. She is excited to
be a part of a great program at CCS and have the opportunity to share
the program with you!

June Cougar Football Clinic - $60 (includes a T-shirt)
Instructed by the CCS Football coaching staff, current and former
players, this 3-day football clinic is a non-contact camp where players
can learn fundamentals of football and have fun! Players will be
divided into groups by grade level and instructed accordingly by our
staff for both offense and defense. Head Coach: Randy Davis

& Sat 10-noonSoccer Shots - $80Soccer Shots® is a uniquely designed program that will introduce
soccer to your child in a fun, safe, and controlled environment. Our
program emphasizes character-forming lessons such as fair team
play, concentration, cooperation and encouragement. We strive to be
a positive influence on children by teaching them basic soccer skills,
creative play, enjoyment of sports and healthy competition.
K–3rd Week 8 Aug 11, 13, 15 McAlder 1-3 p.m.Cougar Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Camp - $75
Led by the Cascade Christian volleyball coaches, this camp is
an excellent opportunity for boys and girls to learn and develop
the basic skills and proper technique for volleyball growth and
development. Between them, coaches Amy Wood and Lori Tang have
over 15 years’ experience working with youth at the elementary, junior
high, and high school level; and both competed at the college level.
• For both boys and girls.• Players must bring knee pads, indoor court shoes, and water.
• The fee for the camp includes a t-shirt and daily awards.

Cascade Christian Schools is proud to partner with Reality Sports® in
offering this wrestling camp for 3rd-12th graders. The camp will focus
primarily on takedowns and collegiate (folkstyle) top and bottom
mat techniques. Drilling, situational wrestling, live matches, mental
training, and spiritual development based on the word and life of
Jesus Christ will be included. Campers need to bring: wrestling shoes,
shorts, two shirts to workout in, a sack lunch, and a hard-working and
teachable attitude (headgear is optional). Coaches: Chris DiCugno

Camp Invention – a STEM Camp

Camp Invention is a week-long camp that inspires children to be
confident in their natural ability to dream and create. Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts are explored via hands-on, creative,
problem solving activities. Working in teams, children are presented with
real-world challenges that promote the direct application of critical-thinking
and communication skills demanded by colleges, careers and citizenship in
the 21st Century. If extended care hours are needed see page 11.
By hosting Camp Invention, Cascade Christian Schools is partnering with
the only nationally recognized, non-profit elementary enrichment program
backed by The National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Enrichment C lassesEnrichment C lasses can be taken either as an enhancement to THRIVE Day Camp or on their own for students not attending Day Camp. C lasses provide expanded learning in Creative Arts, ST EM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Academics, Culinary Arts, and Technology.

Schedule: Enrichment Classes run June 23 through August 22, with new classes available on a
weekly basis. There are usually two sessions each day.
Enrichment Classes are held on the following days (except where noted):
McAlder: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Tacoma: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
Frederickson: Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
The week of June 30 – July 4 Enrichment Class times will be altered to accommodate the
Friday, July 4th closure.
Enrollment: Admission to Enrichment Classes is processed on a first-come, first-served
basis. Enrollment is limited, so early registration is essential. Acceptance is based on space
availability. Grades listed for classes are for the grade the student will be entering for the 2014-
2015 school year.
Enrichment Camp Fees: Class fees vary. See camp description for fees.
Day Camper Discount: Day Camp participants receive a 20% discount on all Enrichment
Classes.
Payments: All Enrichment Class fees are due in full prior to attending the first session.
Enrichment Class Extended Care: Extended Care is offered to Enrichment Class students for
an additional charge. Fees are:
$54 per week for either before or after class extended care (two-hour per day maximum).
$101 per week for both before and after class extended care (four-hour per day maximum).
Voluntary Withdrawal Policy: Refunds for Enrichment Classes will not be issued once a session
has begun. To ensure proper refund, fill out a THRIVE 2014 ADD/DROP form at least one week
in advance (available in each camp office).
Cancellations: Each Camp’s Site Coordinator reserves the right to cancel any class that does
not meet minimum enrollment. Credit will be issued to the family’s account. Contact the

American Sign Language. This summer Mrs. Carson, instructor from The Arts, is excited to
share the art of signing to music. Your child will experience and learn a new culture as well as
get the opportunity to perform a Sign Language song during Friday lunch.

Ballet ‘N Jazz. Cascade Christian has partnered this summer with “The Arts” Instructor, Mrs.
Carson, who will be teaching your little ones how to dance. Teaching dance styles Ballet and
Jazz gives the students freedom of expression with different moves, music and rhythm. This
dance camp will also include a Bible study time as well as an expressive dance time to allow
your child to creatively praise Jesus through dance. Students will perform a short routine
during Friday’s lunch - parents welcome. Required attire: hair pulled back in bun, pink tights,
any colored leotard and pink leather ballet shoes (no slippers please).

Cupcake Club. Come learn to decorate your own beautiful cupcakes with all kinds of FUN
twists. Then share your tasty delight creations with friends and family.

Extreme Dance Camp. The Arts dance instructor Mrs. Carson is excited to teach the
summer’s intensive dance camp. Students will learn God’s word through a short Bible
study then will jump into Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Choreography. Students will learn a
choreographed dance piece to perform Friday at noon. Not only are students learning a new
way to express themselves, they are learning different styles of movement to glorify God.
Required attire: Ballet hair pulled back into bun, pink tights, leather ballet shoes any color
leotard, jazz pants or shorts over ballet uniform t-shirt over leotard if desired.

Jazz Camp. Open to all worship musicians, guitarists, singers, drummers, band students of
any instrument. Meant for students of all levels, this workshop will involve learning and playing
jazz repertoire, improvisation, cover jazz history, listening to various artists and styles, basic
music theory, small ensembles, and large ensemble. Students will divide into small groups and
together with instructor Mr. Michael Gray will present a unique piece to the class. The week
will conclude with a concert featuring workshop participants. Instrumentalists must have their
own instrument, and have a basic ability to read sheet music (piano/guitar must be able to

Kids N Art Creation - Summer Art Camp. Join us as we travel the world visiting new places and
meeting a few artists along the way. We will even get a sneak peek at some amazing animals
while capturing their beauty with our pencils. The students will get to use a variety of mediums
while enhancing their enjoyment of art and creative expression. Classes are led by Darla Barkley,
who has instructed art classes for the last 12 years at the local McAlder grade schools.

Lettuce Eat Healthy - Gardening. Master Gardener, Dr. Anne Barber has been with CCS-
Frederickson for 4 years, teaching us to plant, fertilize, and harvest the garden we carefully, plant
in the Spring. Gardening fruits and vegetables helps us learn about nutrition, organic fruits and
vegetables and also eat healthier.

Let’s Cook! Cooking Series: “Rock Climbing” Kids Culinary Adventure 1. The first culinary
adventure class, with instructor Lisa Knobloch, will focus on foundational skills of the kitchen
and explore basic nutrition. Class will focus on foods using whole and natural ingredients that
provide lasting energy as well as an overall well balanced nutritional composition. Students will
learn about grains, beans and legumes this week. Kids will listen to a story about finding an inner
strength through a path to a Holy life. Theme: “Rock Climbing” – Philippians 4:13, We can do
anything through Christ.

Let’s Cook! Cooking Series: “Fishing and Campfires” Kids Culinary Adventure 2. This week’s
lesson will let campers explore both fishing and campfires while using limited utensils and
exploring the world of various types of fish available for eating. They will imagine they are
cooking outdoors over an open fire. They will learn what it means to respect all of God’s
Creatures while cooking and preparing food. Each class will end with a relaxing campfire story,
read aloud while campers enjoy their tasty food creations. Theme: Hebrews 12:29, God can light a
fire in us that will never go out.

Let’s Cook! Cooking Series: “Nature’s Creatures” Kids Culinary Adventure 4. For this
final week of Culinary Adventures students will impart what they have learned into a
light-hearted competition. Students will pick from a list of recipes, they will practice
with cooking techniques and presentation, before having a celebration of their success
through cooking. They will learn what it means to respect all of God’s creatures, even
while cooking and preparing food and respecting yourself and others always. Theme:
“Natures Creatures” – Proverbs 2:4-5, Seek God.Fee: $62/$50 for Day Campers1st-6th Week 8 Aug 12, 14, 15 Frederickson 9-11 a.m.Move It - Week 2. Students will participate in games and activities which will center on

Theatre Workshop. Join “The Arts” this summer for a three-week theatre workshop. We begin
our day with a short Bible study, then through fun games your child will develop acting skills,
pronunciation, stage terminology and confidence. At the end of the workshop your child will
get a chance to perform a short production, August 1st at noon. Instructor Mrs. Carson.

This supportive and nurturing program is designed for students who are 5 years of age and who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year. This Christ-centered program incorporates educational
activities and games, arts/crafts, cooking, science, and more! This program is limited to 10 students per class, so early registration is highly recommended.
