DAY 1 ARRIVAL ACTIVITY

PRIVATE SAILING ON LOCH NESS

AND VISIT TO URQUHART CASTLE

Loch Ness is over 20 miles long, a mile wide and 700 feet at its deepest, it is the largest lake in Scotland by volume. The surrounding area is filled with historic attractions and natural wonders.

The Loch Ness Monster is just one of the many myths and legends to be discovered in this particularly beautiful part of Scotland.

The inspiring 1 hour cruise will begin at Dochgarroch Harbour, ending at the magnificent Urquhart

Castle. The group can enjoy the Loch’s ultimate photo opportunity as they sail towards the historic Castle which has a bloody history. It was captured by

Edward I’s army in the 14th Century and featured prominently in the struggle for independence. Robert the Bruce took control when he became King of Scots.

DAY 1 ARRIVAL ACTIVITY

PRIVATE SAILING ON LOCH

NESS AND VISIT TO URQUHART

CASTLE

The cruise ends at the iconic Urquhart Castle, one of the most picturesque landmarks in Scotland.

Perched on the banks of Loch Ness beside the village of Drumnadrochit, it commands great views up the length of the loch, and is one of the main places for reported sightings of the legendary Loch Ness Monster.

Urquhart was once one of Scotland’s largest castles. Urquhart witnessed considerable conflict throughout its 500 years as a medieval fortress and its history from the 1200s to the 1600s was particularly bloody.

The castle’s history is told in the exhibition and audio-visual display in the new visitor centre. The centre features an outstanding array of medieval artefacts found at the castle. It also tells the stories of the noble families who held the castle at different times: the Durwards, MacDonalds and Grants.

DAY 1 AFTERNOON ACTIVITY

VIP TOUR AND TASTING AT

GLEN ORD DISTILLERY

A visit to Glen Ord Distillery, on the edge of the Black Isle in the Highlands west of Inverness, is a delight to both the eye and the palate.

Glen Ord distillery was founded in 1838, making it one of the oldest in Scotland. Glen Ord continues to malt its own barley and to use the long fermentation and slow distillation methods followed there for generations. Guests can watch the distillers at work creating a magical malt whisky which is sweet, malty and dry on the palate.

Of course no visit to a Distillery would be complete without a Whisky tasting! The Singleton of Glen Ord is for selected markets, the Visitor Centre and Whisky Shop only. It is not available elsewhere in the UK or Europe!

The group can also browse the shop that is well stocked with a wide variety of single malt whiskies, books, glassware and other quality items.

DAY 1 PRIVATE DINNER VENUE

CULLODEN BATTLEFIELD

On 16 April 1746, the course of British, European and world history changed forever, as Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite army were defeated on Culloden Moor by the government forces commanded by the Duke of Cumberland.

Situated only 6 miles from Inverness, this international landmark is today commemorated by the award-winning Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, where history and modern facilities combine to offer a five-star venue for private events.

Guests will be welcomed by costumed characters who will perform a weapon handling display. A truly memorable welcome to this remarkable site!

Guests can follow characters who were actually involved in the battle around the interactive exhibition, experience the true horror of the battle in an immersive film, take a battlefield tour, and watch the daily Living History presentations which bring the battle to life. The exhibition will be open for the guests to look around. This includes the 360 degree battle immersion theatre and GPS audio guides for the battlefield.

LOCH NESS WALK

For the keen walkers of the group, they will be transferred by Coach to Inverfarigaig. From here the guest will depart on foot and follow the South Loch Ness Trail ending at Dores where the group will be dining.

The trail is in the region of South 14km with various points of interest along the way however the distance can be set to suit the group’s needs.

The trail follows what is know locally as the Corkscrew road to a high point on forest track 1300ft above Loch Ness. It is here that the trail affords the most spectacular views up and down the length of Loch Ness and directly across to Urquhart Castle and Drumnadrochit.

From here the trail then drops down gradually to the village of Dores at the head of Loch Ness. At Dores you get the best views down the length of the loch and the guests will re-join the rest of the group for lunch at The Dores Inn.

OFF-ROAD SEGWAYS ON THE

LOCH NESS SHORELINE

Segways are two-wheeled self-balancing people transporters. They use space-age gyroscopes combined with all-terrain tyres to ensure that you stay upright while exploring some awesome Highland scenery and having amazing fun.

Segways produce zero emissions, virtually no noise and it is impossible to describe the rush of riding one.

AN INTRODUCTION TO ROCK

CLIMBING AND ABSEILING AT

LOCH DUNTELCHAIG

10,000 years ago when the glaciers were retreating towards the end of the last ice age, a rocky cliff collapsed on the shores of Loch Duntelchaig, leaving us today with a wonderful natural rocky playground just a short drive from Inverness.

Tried an indoor wall and keen to climb on the real thing? Are you a complete novice but prefer to be outside in the sunshine? Loch Duntelchaig is the perfect picturesque spot to try some Rock climbing in the Highlands.

Giving a huge sense of achievement, Abseiling is a physically easy but mentally challenging activity. For guests who have already tried a conventional abseil and want something a little different, why not try our variation on the theme and descend the rock forwards?

This is a rocking adventure in a stunning location!

HIGHLAND GAMES AND

ARCHERY AT BOGBAIN FARM

Highland Games are festivals held throughout the year in Scotland as a way of celebrating Scottish and Celtic Culture and Heritage, especially that of the Scottish Highlands. Certain aspects of the games are so well known as they have become emblematic of Scotland, such as the kilt and the heavy events, especially the caber toss.

The guests would split into groups, known in Scotland as Clans. The clans would rotate around events such as archery, shot putt, tossing the caber, Scot’s hammer, weight for distance, Highland dancing, and culminating in a tug of war pull-off to determine the Clan champions of the day.
