1. Getting Started 1.1. Software & Other Pre-requisites The following pre-requisites must be met for optimum performance of the Clinical Audit Tool (CAT). Please ensure all pre-requisites are met before proceeding with the installation process:

} Your practice MUST be on MedTech32 Version 20.0 or above. If you ARE NOT on MedTech32 Version 20.0 or above, you cannot install CAT.

} Before installing the Clinical Audit Tool, please ensure that Medtech 32 has the latest MIMS updates installed.

} Before installing the Clinical Audit Tool, please run the Pre-install Check utility to determine if your machine environment meets the necessary pre-requisites to install and run CAT.

} Your practice MUST have MedTech32 in the Intranet (Local Network). Once CAT is integrated with Medtech32, CAT can be used through Citrix and Terminal Servers as well.

} Ensure that your machine has Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.1 or higher installed before you install the Clinical Audit Tool.

} The Clinical Audit Tool requires .NET Framework 3.5 or above installed on your machine/server. Whilst installing the Clinical Audit Tool the installer will check if the .NET Framework 3.5 or above pre exists on your machine, and if not, it will prompt you to install it before proceeding further with the CAT installation.

} The Clinical Audit Tool requires the Data Direct ODBC Driver to be installed on your machine/server. Whilst installing the Clinical Audit Tool the installer will check if the Data Direct ODBC Driver pre exists on your machine, and if not, the installer will provide the option to install the Data Direct ODBC Driver.

} The Clinical Audit Tool is a browser based tool and it has been tested with Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 beta and Firefox 3.0. Best performance was noted with Internet Explorer and it is therefore recommended that users run the Clinical Audit Tool with Internet Explorer.

} The Clinical Audit Tool uses Fusion Charts for its Graphing capability. Adobe Flash Player version 8 and above is required for this purpose. While running the Clinical Audit Tool for the first time on your machine there will be an automatic prompt which will guide you to the Adobe website to download the Flash Player. The Adobe Flash Player has also been included on the Clinical Audit Tool installation CD for users to select and install.

Please refer to the Medtech32 Hardware and Software Recommendations documentation for details on supported Operating Systems. Note: The Clinical Audit Tool integration with MedTech32 will not work for operating systems that are not Windows based. Other Environments

1.3. CAT Installation Process The installer for the Clinical Audit Tool will install all software, drivers and frameworks required for the Clinical Audit Tool to function. The Latest Version of Clinical Audit Tool can be downloaded via Medtech Online Clinical Audit Tool Downloads To install the Clinical Audit Tool – Download and Open Clinical Audit Tool Installer:

} An Installation Information screen showing the details of the pre requisites for the Clinical Audit Tool installation will be shown. Make sure that you meet the pre requisites before you proceed with the installation.

} To check if your machine environment meets the pre-requisites for installation, click the ‘Run the compatibility check now’ button. A Pre-install Check window will be opened displaying the pre-requisite settings on your particular machine. If your machine environment does not meet the pre-requisite requirements, the Pre-install Check utility will highlight which pre-requisites need to be updated.

Selecting the Save and Close button will close the window and create an RTF file of your pre-installation settings.

} If your machine environment meets the pre-requisites, clicking the Next button will Display the “Select Installation Folder”, Browse to the correct drive where the Clinical Audit Tool will be install and click Next.

} Clicking the next button will start the installation process. The Installer will still check for the .NET Framework 2.0 on the machine which is a prerequisite for CAT installation, and if uninstalled, it will inform you to install the framework first before you proceed further. Clicking the “OK” button will abort the CAT installation. If the .NET Framework 2.0 is already installed, there will not be any screen prompting you to install it.

} After checking for the .NET Framework 2.0 or above, the IBProvider Drivers will be installed. Please click “Next” for the install to start. If the IBProvider driver is already installed in your computer, there will not be any screen prompting you to install it.

} The License Agreement screen will be displayed. Read the terms of the license agreement select “I accept the agreement” and click the “Next” button to proceed.

} The IBProvider Driver will be saved in the default destination folder in the C drive; however you can select a different destination folder.

} After selecting a destination folder and clicking the Next button, the

IBProvider “Select Components” screen will be displayed. Ensure all tick boxes are selected and Click the Next button.

} Click on Install to begin the IBProvider installation.

} The IBProvider Driver Installing screen will display the progress of the

installation.

} After the installation of the IBProvider driver is completed click the Finish

button.

} After clicking the “Finish” Button, the installer will automatically detect the

presence of Internet Information Service (IIS) version 5.1 or above in your system. If your machine does not have IIS version 5.1 or above installed, which is a pre-requisite for the CAT installation, then clicking the Finish button after the ODBC installation will display the IIS not found screen.

Before proceeding further with the CAT installation, please install IIS version 5.1 or above. Refer to the “Installing IIS in Windows” section for installing IIS on your machine.

Clicking the “OK” button will abort the CAT installation.

Ø On Windows 7 machines, IIS can be installed in parts, so it is possible that a pre-existing installation would have installed the partial components of the IIS. For this situation, the CAT installer will automatically detect if partial components have been installed and will display a prompt accordingly and abort the CAT installation.

} If IIS v5.1 or above already exists, the installer will install the remaining parts of CAT.

} The Installation will automatically select the database for the Clinical Audit

Tool to be connected to, based on the Registry of the MedTech32 installation, and during the installation process a prompt will be shown giving the details of the database path and the machine name where the Clinical Audit Tool has been installed.

} If you are registered with HealthStat, you can import the screening terms that are specific for HealthStat queries into the Screening Mapper in CAT by selecting the tick box “Yes, Import HealthStat screening Terms”.

} Before the installation process is complete you can select if you would like to

run the CAT Data Extraction Utility during the installation process, this utility will extract the data required for analysis from the MT32 database and will populate the CAT database. After selecting the check box click the “OK” button to run the extraction utility now during the installation process, if you don’t select the check box and click the “Ok” button the CAT installation will be completed and then you can use the Windows scheduler to schedule the running of the extraction utility or this can be run manually (Please refer to section 1.5 & 1.6)

} When the installer has completed, the following screen will be displayed. Click the Finish button to complete the CAT installation.

The user will then be prompted to restart their machine to complete the installation. Ensure that the computer is restarted before proceeding further. But if you have selected to run the data extraction utility during the installation process itself then you would have to wait till the extraction is done to restart your machine.

} The installation process will save the Clinical Audit Tool in a specific deployment folder titled MedtechCAT. The CAT installer will give this folder full access permission for ASP.NET automatically and this will be done for all systems be it XP, Vista or Windows server.

} Once CAT has been installed, log into Medtech32. To launch CAT, go to the CAT menu and select ‘Launch Clinical Audit Tool’ as shown below.

A CAT custom browser will open displaying the CAT home page as shown below.

1.4. Installing Internet Information Service on Different Machines } If you want to proceed with IIS installation you must know that this process

varies according to the system being used. The details are given below:-

Installing IIS on Windows 7 Machines

Ø On your machine, go to the ‘Control Panel �Programs �Programs and Features’ screen and click on the link “Turn Windows features on or off”.

Ø In the “Turn Windows features on or off” screen, expand the IIS section and

tick the selection boxes under Web Management Tools & World Wide Web Services as shown below. Click the OK button and all IIS components should be installed sucessfully.

Installing IIS on Windows 2003 Server

Ø Go to the “Add or Remove Programs” screen and click on the “Add/Remove Windows Components” icon.

Ø In the “Windows Components Wizard” screen, select the component titled “Application Server” as shown in the screenshot below and click the Next button. This will install all the components required for IIS and your machine will be ready for the remaining process of CAT installation.

Overriding Security Restrictions in Windows 2003 Server Because of security restrictions in Windows 2003 server, it is possible that even after installing IIS and CAT successfully in your server you may not be able to access CAT. To overide this restriction, the following steps must be performed:-

Ø Open IIS Manager by typing INETMGR at RUN command.

Ø In IIS Manager, expand the local computer and click Web Service Extensions.

Ø In the details pane, click ASP.NET v2.0 web service extension.

Ø Clicking the “Allow” button will remove the restrictions on your server.

Internet Explorer’s high security restriction can occassionally block the functionalities of CAT. It is advisable to add the CAT URL in the trusted/Allow lists.

Installing IIS on Windows XP Machines

Ø Go to the “Add or Remove Programs” screen for the IIS installation process. Click on the “Add/Remove Windows Components” icon and the main screen will be displayed.

Ø On the “Windows Components Wizard” screen, select the component titled “Internet Information Services (IIS)” as shown in the screenshot below and click the Next button. This will install all the components required for IIS and your machine will then be ready for the remaining process of the CAT installation.

1.5. Using the Windows Scheduler to run the Data Extraction Utility

To run CAT Data Extraction Utility on scheduled intervals of time users can use the windows scheduler, given below are the steps how this can be done:-

} Go to the “Control Panel” and double click on the “Scheduled Tasks” folder as highlighted in the screenshot given below.

} After opening the Scheduled Tasks folder double click on the “Add Scheduled Task” utility.

} This will open the Scheduled Task Wizard; this wizard will help you to schedule a task for windows to perform. Click the “Next” button and this will open a list of programs that can be selected for the scheduling.

} If the program or application you wanted to run is not in the list given, you can use the “Browse” button to select the application from the folder where it is present.

} In this case CAT data gets stored by default in the “MedtechCAT” folder, open this folder and go to the “Bin” folder inside this.

} Click on the “CATAccessByXML.exe” and this will be selected under the file name then click the “Open” button.

} The exe file selected will be listed under the Scheduled Task Wizard, you can name task appropriately or you can leave it as default exe name. The frequency of running the application can be selected by selecting the radio buttons given for Daily, Weekly, Monthly etc.

} The time and day details for running the utility can be selected by the users accordingly.

} Before the wizard accepts the parameters inputted it will ask for the users login details, this has to be entered in the space provided.

} After giving the login details and clicking “Next” button it will display a screen showing the details of the parameters that has been selected to schedule the running of the CAT Data Extraction Utility.

Running the Extraction Utility in the Background

} After the scheduling of the utility double clicking the CATAccessByXML file under the scheduled tasks folder will open a screen showing files path.

} If you want to run the utility under a background process so that no User Interface is displayed every time the extraction utility runs based on the scheduler settings, you can input capital letter “A” in front of the path name as shown below in the screenshot. This will act as a parameter to run the extraction utility as a background process.

1.6. Running the Data Extraction Utility Manually

} If you want to update the CAT database under certain circumstances like say after inputting the screening mapper parameters or if you want some data updated in MT32 to be populated in CAT immediately, under these circumstances the CAT Data Extraction Utility can be run manually.

} The During the CAT install process a shortcut to the Data Extraction Utility is added to the desktop of the computer CAT is installed on

} This can be also done by going to MedtechCAT �Bin� CATAccessByXML.exe

} Please note that this process can take several minutes or several hours based on the size of your practice’s database.

} This .exe has to be double clicked and a User Interface will pop up with a start button that needs to be clicked and the data extraction from MT32 database will start and the CAT database will be populated.

} The Extraction Utility UI will display the log of the tables that are being populated, so you can view the start and end time for the data extraction process for each of these tables that are being populated in CAT Database.

} If the extraction process completes successfully without any errors the message will be displayed, clicking the “Close” button will close the extraction utility user interface.
