Afrika Bambaataa

Bronx native Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of break-beat deejaying, and one of the architects of Hip Hop Culture. In fact, he is credited for coining the phrase “Hip Hop”. He also helped fuel the development of other musical genres such as freestyle or Latin freestyle, Miami bass, house, hip house, electronic and early techno. He was the first to use a synthesizer on a Hip Hop record, ultimately creating the electro funk sound.

Bam is also recognized as a humanitarian, who has applied elements of Afrocentric, spiritual, and health-conscious teachings to his philosophy and activism in the South Bronx. During the 90’s and now into the new millennium, Bam continues to be an activist and force positive change in the Bronx. He continues to tour the globe as a deejay, and has been busy collaborating with various artists and gather accolades.

[N-1] NMinusOne works on projects traversing different scales and disciplines: from urban design and architecture, to objects and manuals. The studio engages popular culture, media, art, sociology, psychology, economy, science, technology, and everything else in this world (n), to extract (-) architecture (1).

Rob Dyer S4C

Finding the cure may just be a dream, but Rob and the S4C crew are pursuing it with vigor and indefatigable love; something that people seem to be able to identify with.

Through active involvement with youth, S4C endeavors to nurture a safe and energetic community that discuss the effects of cancer in a supportive, honest and unabashed manner. Rob strives with spirited passion to spread a positive message in hopes of drastically reducing the presence of cancer.

Right now, the cure is knowledge. Dream. Love. Cure.

From its inception C1RCA was connected at the hip to music,

art and street culture. C1RCA Presents launched in 2000 and

grew to become an international music community. C1RCA

introduced artists and toured well-known legends in what

became a partnership with independent promoters around

the globe. The Presents campaign often crossed over to other

mediums, with live art, painted shoes, graphic art and design

becoming part and parcel of the community that was built

around helping to promote the independent scene. As new

people got involved with the brand and brought new flavors

to the mix, C1RCA branched out by getting involved with

photographers, indy bands, fundraisers and charities. Culture

Squad is a celebration of these relationships-some new, some

going on 10 years. The program aims to promote our friends

in all cultural fields while bringing something special to the

plate, as some of the projects have royalites that go directly to

specific charities around the world.
