To our youth, we will be having a teen devotional at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, in the fellowship hall.
To our whole church family, let’s start the New Year off right! My dear brother, Wilson Kamara, and myself are putting together a time of praise and
FROM MICHAEL
From the Preacher’s Desk
As the year comes to a close, and we focus on the next, there are a lot of things that I wish I could share with you. Most importantly, I want to say “thank you” on behalf of my family. From the very
beginning, almost 2 years ago, this congregation has shown my family so much love, compassion, care, and support. There is always fear when you start a new work, not knowing what the expect and how you will fit in with a congregation that has already been established. This congregation treated us like family, and that has meant a lot to me and my girls. We have no regrets moving back to Texas and look forward to many more years laboring with the saints in Angleton. ________________________________________
As most of you know, this is one of my favorite times of the year. That being said, I know that there are a lot of people who suffer during the holidays. Celebrations like Christmas remind us of loved ones who are no longer with us. So, to those who are struggling, I wanted you to know that you are in my prayers. I also wanted to remind you that you are not alone, and you can turn to me if you need it. The reason I love what I do is that I love to help people. Kaylee will often ask, “Why do you go to work, daddy?” And my answer is always the same, “Because daddy likes to help people!” Sure, my job is to stand in the pulpit each Sunday morning and preach the truth to the congregation, but even more than that it’s to minister to the church. That might be my favorite part of my job. I say all this to remind the congregation that during those difficult times, whether it's the holiday season, or any other day for that matter, that I am here for you. Not because I have to be, but because I want to be.
prayer on Zoom, New Year’s Eve starting at 10:00 p.m. Despite the many obstacles, we have made it through 2020 by the grace of our Lord, and our aim is to praise Him for all He has done in this year, and prayerfully petition Him to grant us boldness and faithfulness in the year to come. I know many have their own New Year’s traditions, but if you are able to be a part of this, I know you will be blessed by it. If you would like to be a part of this, join us on Zoom, Thursday, December 31st.
So please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a need and I can help. ________________________________________
The banners are up! Which banners? Great question! Our 2021 banners are now up in the auditorium and I am so excited to share them with this congregation this new year. As much as I loved our previous theme: “Focus on God,” I did not enjoy the year as a whole. I’m looking forward to what 2021 has to offer and can’t wait for us to go on that adventure together. What this also means is that we have one more lesson for 2020. If there is one bit of encouragement that I can offer, it would be this. While we might wish to let go of the previous year, don’t let go of the lessons that you have learned. Our focus on God needs to go with us in everything we do. The lessons are designed to edify us as Christians, but also to share with those in the world. So please continue to Focus on God this new year, but help those in the world see God as well. ________________________________________
Finally, we’ve done quite a lot this 2020, all things considered. One of those things we’ve done that has turned into an exciting fellowship event has been our singing/Devo/movie nights. I’m excited to announce this is something that we plan to continue into 2021. We’ve already had people asking when our next one will be, and it’s already being planned. So be excited about that, as well as all the things being planned for 2021. My desire, and expectation, is growth. Growth physically as well as spiritually, and we can't wait to put into action those things we know will help in our goal. God bless! Merry Christmas! And see you soon! David Olmos
