NETRANJALI
We bring to you the 5th edition of the RPG Newsletter.
We are delighted to share with you the exciting CSR journey that the RPG Group companies have had in the last three months, transforming the lives of many needy people, across India.
In the last year through our CSR activities we created a huge difference at the three levels that we work i.e. around our plant locations; in the industries we operate in and of course the flagship program of the RPG Group - Netranjali, for universal social impact.
The immense support received from all the employees has made this happen. We look forward to each one of you continuing to be a part of the work we do at the RPG Foundation.

Diabetes causes total blindness & early intervention is a must. In India there is a diabetic epidemic and most people are not aware that they have high blood sugar.
On the 30th of November an employee engagement activity was carried out at RPG House wherein 163 employees were screened for Diabetic Retinopathy. The purpose of this was to screen our employees for eye health issues and bring about awareness on Vision Loss due to Diabetes. The Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) Screening - on - Wheels bike was launched at the RPG House by Mr. Anant Goenka.
The DR Bike is an innovative intervention that goes to remote communities around Bhandup and Navi Mumbai wherein elderly beneficiaries can avail the services of a free Diabetic Retinopathy check-up as an early stage intervention for vision loss due to diabetes.

Pehlay Akshar’s volunteer program gives a unique opportunity to RPG
employees to get involved. We have initiated two kinds of volunteer
engagement programs:
1. In the first program, a volunteer can dedicate two hours on any
Saturday morning to help a Pehlay Akshar child to build skills in any
area that the volunteer chooses/ thinks he or she can contribute. It
would be a one time commitment for two hours.
2. The second is a mentorship program which is a long term commitment,
where volunteers dedicate one hour twice a month to mentor a Pehlay
Akshar child.
Currently there are 48 RPG volunteers for the Paper Boat Mentorship
project across Worli, Bhandup and Vasai. With your help we
hope to reach our goal of pairing every Pehlay Akshar child
with a mentor.
So please come forward and join us in our
endeavour of shaping the future!

ZENVOLUNTEER DAY AND LAUNCH OF THE VOLUNTEER LIGHTHOUSE
OTHER HIGHLIGHTSCOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:
With a whopping 20% Zensarians being volunteers; “Zen
Volunteer Day” has been instituted from this year onwards in order
to honour the volunteers and celebrate the spirit of volunteering.
ZenVolunteer Day was celebrated in style on 4th Dec with celebrity
Mrinal Kulkarni, Zensar Foundation trustee Pervin Varma and over
2000 Zensarians in the audience. Apart from awarding the top 50
volunteers, this was also the perfect day to launch The Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is essentially a physical room where citizens
can meet, discuss, learn, be inspired and go forth to inspire.
The Lighthouse runs programs which are about enabling Active
Citizenship….making change happen in one’s own sphere of
influence. It is meant to be a centre where Zensarians, communities
and local governance will co-exist and co-create for a better future.
Zensar Foundation made its first foray into
village development with the launch of the first
National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) centre
in Sudumbre village, Maval Taluka, Pune district.
With the launch of this centre, Zensar Foundation
has opened its 4th Digital Literacy centre.
Mrinal Kulkarni launches The Lighthouse, which is housed in the Himalaya building on the Zensar campus

JOY OF GIVING MONTH This year at Zensar, volunteers celebrated Joy of
Giving month, instead of just a week, with great
enthusiasm. There were multiple donation drives
where clothes, books and toys were collected to be
distributed at Goonj and for the children at Ambedkar
Nagar slum community in Pune. The well-known
social activist Dr. Prakash Amte, visited the campus
and addressed the associates. He was received with
much applause and motivated the associates.

Managers and community youth during a reflection session after visiting the community households
A unique workshop for senior managers at Zensar was held
on 30th of October 2015. The workshop was an experiential
one with classroom sessions, community visit and reflection
sessions; with manager, volunteers and community youth
working and learning together. This workshop was received
very positively by managers who are subsequently proactively
encouraging their resources to engage in CSR activities.
Zensar Foundation has launched a new online
portal exclusively for Zensarians! This is to ease
access to volunteering opportunities, connect
volunteers to each other and stay updated.
The portal also allows volunteers to create new
campaigns, that is, those that are not being
initiated by Zensar Foundation.
The month of October saw a 5-year MoU being
signed between the Pune Municipal Corporation
and Zensar Foundation, for adoption of 5 Municipal
Schools. This MoU is the outcome of several years
of work already carried out with the school, and an
indication of the trust and credibility enjoyed by
Zensar Foundation in the city of Pune.
